Reviews : Moebius 1966 Ford F100 Flareside Pickup Truck

This was my first Moebius model kit and I was really impressed with the quality. First off the instruction manual is the best I’ve seen, very clearly laid out with diagrams and step by step written instructions. The one small quirk is that there are no paint color call outs but being the manual and box have very detailed pictures that’s really not a problem. The quality of the parts is superb, very detailed, no flash and fit perfectly with a couple of exceptions. As many have stated the windshield fits very tight and honestly I think it requires a little extra work to get it to really fit right. The second minor issue I had with fit was the air cleaner wouldn’t fit right, the shape of the hole and peg just didn’t match up. Nothing a little glue couldn’t fix. Overall the kit is exceptional and a joy to build and the final result was very satisfying. I would definitely recommend this kit but I wouldn’t recommend it as someone’s very first build. There are some very delicate parts like door handles and such so you should have a few builds under your belt before tackling this one but yes, build it!

As I used MANY aftermarket parts from VCG by Reese (3D printed resin parts) for at least 1/3 of this build, I'll comment on what I did use ... First, the decals are BRITTLE. Had major issues with the dash gauges, and there's no detail in the gauge area to highlight. So, as others have noted, minus one star. The windshield is GREAT! You put it in from the OUTSIDE, and pop it in place with some tabs. Tight fit; don't play Magilla Gorilla! NO GLUE NEEDED! Body had very little in the way of mold lines; ejector pin marks were minimal; flashing was mostly minimal. Extra parts - for example, I had FOUR driveshafts, two of the same one! Except for the gauge area on the dash, detail is exceptional. I do like Moebius kits .. !!

I absolutely LOVED this kit! First of all, this is such a great subject to model. Still being fairly new to the hobby, I was afraid I would never be able to obtain this year or body style of Ford pickup. HUGE thanks to Moebius for all their kits. So quick and easy to put together, its almost needs no glue. Instruction manual was easy to understand and was so hard to walk away from at times to let the glue or paint dry. Had some nice left over parts for the parts bin. I really need to get more of these Moebius model kits in my stash. If you are looking for a nice relaxing, fun build, then this is the kit for you. I highly recommend it!

Very nice kit for several reasons. Very good details for the chassis and the interior. The motor was a little too plain for me. All the parts fit perfectly and no flashing at all. This is a well made kit that in my opinion can compete with Revell. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because the decals were unusable because they completely fell apart as I was sliding them off the backing paper. You don’t get many decals in this kit to begin with, but the ones I wanted to use were worthless. So 4 stars.

This is a great kit. Moebius makes some of the best & most satisfying kits available. I was very impressed with the detail of this kit, and I did some detailing of my own by adding some plug wires, hoses, and other wiring in the engine bay. The kit is fun to build with an occasional challenge. If you read over the instructions before you start it will help you with some ideas. The instructions are well laid out and easy to follow. Thank you Moebius and Hobbylinc for making my hobby enjoyable.

This kit by Moebius Models is pretty nice, the cab and cargo bed just barely fit the chassis because of tight tolerances between the two modular components. The engine and transmission also do not fit snug together causing a misalignment issue which in turn causes incorrect engine tilt. But even with those issues everything goes together for a good looking model truck.

this is my third model and i went off with a bang! excellent quality, but not recommended for the absolute beginner modeler. no flash at all. it is a good looking truck and looks like the actual truck itself. all in all, good model, doesn’t take too long to build, and is absolutely perfect! - Julian, age 10

Mobius kits are really fun to build. Parts are well detailed and fit nice. Little to no flash to deal with and the result is a great looking little Ford truck. Only complaint is thin, weak decals. Happy building!

Great kit. Box is packed full. See very little flash. Bought this kit for the 6 cylinder motor to put in the moebius 72 ford. Great deatail. Tires are great with options. Wish all kits had such details.

This is the 2nd model from Moebus. Quality is outstanding. No flashing and parts fit the way they should. Just be careful with the windshield. It’s a VERY tight fit.

Moebius did it again. Another great kit of a great subject. A couple performance options might be nice but this builds into a very nice stock pickup.

This particular kit does make for a well fitting build. These kits go together so well. Hopefully I can post pics of my build of this one soon.

This kit went together very nice. Moebius pays so much attention to detail and parts fit excellent. I love the six cylinder engine, very nice!

Lots of parts with great detail. Can customize or stock. Plastic is thick making it great for customizing. Comes with 6 banger.
