Reviews : Osborn Gazebo (wooden kit)

Overall this is a good kit but it has some very delicate parts, even for N-scale. In particular the posts. Two broke and one flew to nowhere. I was able to repair the two and make a suitable replacement for the lost one. The kit has some really nice detail, but the seams left a lot to be desired. Weathering will definitely improve the overall look. I will be placing mine under a large oak tree so I'm okay with the worn out look. One detail that I really liked was the way the paint didn't fill in all of the pores of the wood--it actually improved the look to me. I wish I'd known about how delicate the posts were so I could have been more careful, but I am happy overall.

I now have several different Osborne kits on my layout. They are absolutely awesome and fun builds. There are some delicate parts but as long as you take your time and be patient, allowing things to dry before moving forward, it turns out amazing. Be especially careful when installing the roof sections as they are a bit difficult to get lined up and setting just right. I do recommend painting or staining (your choice) the pieces before assembly. You will want to have weights available to place top while the pieces are drying in order to keep the flat. I highly recommend Osborne kits for your layout. They add amazing detail and life to the setup.

Quite delicate. Some of the siding parts weren’t even complete in the mold they’re cut so thin. I had a hard time with the roof sections. But I did it.

This is a great kit. I put a band in it. All parts fit well.
