Not for a beginner
This is not for someone who is just getting started in on building model cars. This is a monogram skill 4, there skill scale is 1-5. This kit does have really good detail with a few options to choose from & easy to follow instructions. But if you are just getting started in model making & want to start with the kind of models you have to glue & paint, I would recommend monogram skill 3 or ATM skill 2 (ATM scale is 1-3). If you want models you don't have to glue (they snap together) go lower on the skill. (Not sure on the scale on other brands yet like MPC, Tamiya, etc.. but usually if the description says 10yrs & up it's entry level glue & paint type.)
