Finished building the R8. I enjoyed putting it together. I had trouble putting the body onto the chassis, loosened the Driver side Tailpipe Finally got the body on but it still doesn't fit right. All in all it is a great model to build. I'd buy another one. I wish they would re-issue the R8 Sypder.

I just finished this kit. Great Revell Germany quality. Body detail is great with all the difficult to lay down decals in the front air intakes. Rear glass hood is nice so you can see engine detail. Engine details are great. Interior details are excellent with nice decals. The biggest problem is getting the body on the chassis. The fender wells are glued to the chassis and come off when fitting the body to chassis. Same thing with rear body molding part. Discovered that interior was not completely seated on the chassis and prevented body from fitting. This is a well build kit, just difficult to get parts in place and attaching that body to chassis.

I received P/N 7398, but didn't realize that the current model is P/N 4211. I had a couple small cons, and one large one. There was a large amount of flashing on many parts, and some rather prominent mold lines. They weren't that big of a deal, and quickly taken care of. Next, when I was assembling the engine, I found that part number 14 was missing. I don't mean broken off the sprue, I mean it was never cast into any sprue in the box. Even the drawing in the front didn't include those parts. Being that they were exhaust tips, it wasn't much trouble to hand make a set of those that turned out alright. The big negative was that the back hatch didn't fit. It is about 1/16 too short, and about 1/8 too narrow. I'm going to check with the model guru here in the area to see if he can suggest a path forward on that one. I was very disappointed with the back hatch issue because everything else worked out well. The body was completely flawless right out of the box. Even after the primer, and the base color, I couldn't find any issues. I'm not going to lacquer it unless I can fix the hatch. If I can't get the back hatch to look the way I want, I'm going to pick up the latest kit, as I enjoyed this build very much (except the hatch :) ). I would still recommend this, if the problems were fixed, or the newest version was available.
