2017 Ford GT

The Revell of Germany 2017 Ford GT fits together well, looks great, and builds into a pleasingly accurate model. All the parts press together with tabs, posts, and pins. It is a snap-fit, curbside-style kit that offers a nice level of detail. One tub combines the engine compartment and interior with the top of the motor and well-defined structural elements. Though there is no full engine, the top is visible through the rear glass, and there is enough molded-in detail to be a realistic representation of what one would see in a real car. Revell molded the parts in a metallic blue for the body and a semi-gloss black for all other components. The wheels and headlight-backs are silver-painted. The windshield and rear glass are pad-printed with rubber seals. Revell also includes a decal sheet and identical sticker sheet, with emblems, reflectors, and instrument panels on the dash. Therefore, one could build the kit without glue or paint and still have a nice model. Revell USA boxes this kit with a metallic white body, including blue and black stripe decals, for a slightly lower price. However, adding a small amount of paint to the engine and interior helps make the details pop. Because the body is molded in white, it is easy to paint over. A modeler comfortable with masking and painting could make any color combination. The Ford GT Configurator, found at https://www.ford.com/performance/gt/configurator/, allows you to play with different body colors, stripes, wheel options, and interior schemes if you want inspiration or want to replicate specific details. Straight out of the box, the model is black and blue with aluminum wheels. My only complaint is that Revell does not include a flat mirror surface, leaving the side mirrors empty shells. I fixed this by filling the side mirrors, smoothing the surface, and painting the mirrors silver. I rate the Revell of Germany Ford GT with five stars because it is well-engineered, its parts need only minor clean-up, everything fits nicely, and it builds into an attractive model. A beginning modeler could make this kit without a problem. The model is easy to customize using some colors to highlight details. An experienced modeler could make it into an excellent and eye-catching Ford GT with a little effort.
