I've never been comfortable with the round handled hobby knives traditionally used in modeling. I can never keep the blade lock tight and the handle just wouldn't stay wear I expected it too in my hand. This scalpel is not something I'd want a surgeon to use, but for modeling I love it! My blades fit exactly and tightly. For heavy duty cutting I still use a large #2 handle X-acto type knife, but for everything else this scalpel is great.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Hobbylinc until now. I purchased this item and only recently had the opportunity to use it. I unpackaged the handle to discover that it was attracted to a magnet I had nearby....Not stainless! When I attempted to fit the enclosed #11 blade to the handle, the blade would not engage all the way. I took the handle to my anatomy lab and compared the handle to those at the lab and found that the handle is not a #3 handle, which takes the #11 blade. This is a #4 handle which works with a #22 blade. When I compared the Squadron handle to those in the lab, the quality is night and day, as well. The Squadron handle is of very poor quality. Spend the extra couple bucks and buy a quality scalpel elsewhere.
