Tamiya 930

First off, this is an awesome kit. Probably the best and most accurate looking of all Porsche 911 kits. Its a very easy kit to build and looks amazing when fully detailed. It does require a bit of masking to paint correctly. Make sure to paint the mirrors and headlights!!! A lot of people forget them. And here is a trick, use acrylic satin black for the trim. Gloss trim looks horrible on a Porsche and acrylic paint makes the job much easier. Sand the tip of a wooden toothpick into a wedge shape and use this to refine the edge of your trim paint. It comes out nice and crisp and is easy to do over lacquer or enamel body paint. If you want to be different, pop on some scale Magnus Walker, RUF, Rotiform, or even a nice set of Campagnolo wheels.
Sky is the limit for realism
Oh baby, Tamiya knows how to give you a chance to out do yourself. My only regret is my 70 yr old unsteady hands. Came out better than I expected. I left out some painting details because I would have just messed up the appearance worse than leaving it alone. The body finish, as it came in the box, is the color I chose. And for handling the car, it will be more durable than any paint I could choose to gussy it up with. Novices will love it and the more experienced builders will really appreciate their work, when complete. The car alone is a classic!
Great 1st build
I had read that this was a good model to start with. I would agree! The parts count is low so you can spend your time focusing on painting. The only problems i had were with painting the rubber parts. I tried masking it and it came out terribly. In the end I just hand painted it. This is no fault of the model though, just my skill level. If your interested in modeling and like 911’s this would be a choice first kit.
Great build

Having just gotten back into modeling as an adult after leaving it as a kid, I found this kit to be the perfect choice to start again. I bought the kit because the 88 Porsche 911 Turbo is my favorite car. I plan on getting several more kits and customizing them to the era as well as customizing a few to new ideas. I recommend this build kit for just about anyone.

Great model, pieces fit together well. A lot easier than I thought. Lots of snap on pieces. Not much engine detail. Model came prepainted. All in all it was fun.
Great fun!
Enjoyed this kit a lot, I'm just getting back into modeling and this kit wasn't to complex but had plenty of detail.
