Reviews : Tamiya British 25 Pounder Gun/Quad

This model was originally released in 1974, but must have been ahead of its kind! This model almost flawless. The model is about 253 pieces, which build out to the tractor, limber and field gun. There is a figure, that might be the one thing that could be upgraded, even though it is a very nice figure. Since it is seated, it doesn’t betray the Tamiya figures of that age which were usually chunky and scaled out at an average height of 5’4” The neat thing is this model can be configured to be firing mode (without crew) or with the one or both tow-alongs attached to the tractor or parked in laager. Everything perfectly cast with lots of fine details. The two really neat aspects are 1) the cab, lower body and undercarriage frame can be separated so that people can see the interior details; and 2) all of the extra goodies (packs, netting, pioneer tools, etc) can be placed anywhere on the vehicle, limber or gun. This is an outstanding kit and was a pure joy to build.

I purchased this kit several years ago and competed the Limber and gun to be used in a mounted version of the gun, since I had the Quad Chevrolet as a model I purchased another Limber and Gun to complete the set once again. Since I was already ahead with the completed Quad I completed the Limber to find more parts and giving it more true to life detailing as a result. The parts are well produced considering the age and technology of days gone by. I've started the 25 Lb gun and found it to be a real masterpiece of details. The fit is perfect and without any flash which is a good sign. For older Tamiya kits this particular one is outstanding. Although the figures are of the older Tamiya style, they remain perfect for the ages. I highly recommend the kit(s) in either configuration as any would be an enjoyable and rewarding build. This would be a good starter kit for anyone with a few kits under their belt.

For a very reasonable price, this kit offers a nice variety of model builds as it is essentially three kits in one: the Quad Gun Tractor, the 25PDR Gun and the Limber Carrier. The model can be built in the firing position or the towing position. The specs show the length as 5 inches. This is for the tractor alone. When the three are hooked together in the towing position, the overall length is about 15 inches. And as they often do, Tamiya has included a nice variety of accessories for placement on the exterior of the tractor and Limber carrier. Great price, enjoyable kit.

This is an excellent kit. It is like having 3 kits in one. Pro's: Excellent fit. Instructions are easy to follow. Decals went on well. Decals for 2 versions. One Canadian second one for British unit in North Africa. Nice undercarriage and engine included. Firing platform can be in the transporting position or firing position. A lot of extra parts included. Such as a driver, tarps, tools, shells and a helmet. This would be a great kit to add to a diorama. All three units will connect to be in travel position. Con's: None.

Tamiya offers this artillery piece in two different kits . One with the gun crew ( no quad ) or this version which also has the casson and lots of extras including a driver. This model fit together well with very little flash and user friendly instructions . The detail on all three pieces inside and out was well done with the finished product able to be displayed either all hooked up in traveling mode or as separate pieces . Excellent price for a really nice kit .

I liked everything about this kit except the clear parts. Maybe it is just me, but I thought they were too thick and chunky. The windshield wipers were molded on the windshield parts. Once painted, they looked so bad, I yanked them out and made new ones out of clear plastic. The kit is reasonably priced for an older Tamiya kit and is worth the price despite my misgivings.

Great little kit. I am planning to use this in a diorama along with a Grant.The model was quite easy to assemble and looks great in its current pre-paint condition. I had zero issues with flash or misalignment of parts.This is the first Tamiya kit I have assembled and I now look forward to doing more from this manufacturer.

Good detailed kit for a reasonable price. Give the option of building the gun in the towing position or firing position, but the instructions only have a picture for the firing position. Typical Tamiya kit in that there is little clean up of the parts and they fall into place where they should.

This model I enjoyed because got three different types of models.Everything went together just fine.I always have trouble when it comes to putting clear plastic windows in a vehicle.as soon as I figure out how to take the pictures of my models I'll post them.

Was following a trend of artillery pieces and thought a gun/vehicle combination would be a good idea. Turned out to be real fun. Few pieces with flash or badly fitting parts. Even decided to put it into a diorama to show it off a bit more.

Another hit for Tamiya,I loved this kit. The truck comes in 3 pieces, and they fit together beautifully. The price is very good for what you get! I would recommend this to anyone, it’s a easy build. John. cath524

Very good kit for its age and price. I particularly like the doors being separate so it can have them open without cutting them out. I might be able to do that. But with my time not building it would be very iffy.

This is a lot of quality build for a moderate price.The exterior detail is excellent just below WOW. Can be brought to a high level out of the box.Very fun build.

Have not started construction yet. just opened package and read through directions. Checked some dry fittings and it seems like it will go together smoothly.

this kit is going to be a blast to build , the dry fitting i have done is awesome and there is no flash on the sprues or parts will make a great diorama

Loved this kit - good fit, good instructions. Made it into a British Airborne Artillery regiment model, just like my Grand Dads unit in WW2

super nice detail not much flashing parts fit extreamly nice very nice quality a great build cant wait to get started on this one

Been wanting this kit for a while. I’ve not started the build yet but everything looks really good. Tamiya never lets me down

great kit looks great this is my second kit . easy to put togather great price. all tamiya kits are great kits.

I have already got one of these so will try to make it a lot better with an even better paint job.

Looks like it would be fun to build and I look forward to ordering it.
