Part of Tamiya history
Pursuing an interest in Korean War armor, I bought Tamiya's old M41 Walker Bulldog at a very good price. Then I was unable to confirm that this vehicle actually saw service in that war. Tamiya includes a brief history of this vehicle along with sketches of some of its contemporaries. In this history, Tamiya states that the prototype T41 was shipped to Korea straight from the production line. Implied is that other early models followed and saw fighting but details are few. Anyway, when you buy this old kit, you get a lot for your money. Included are decals for three variants, two of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force and one US Army. I was nervous, having had some disasters with Tamiya decals in the past but they are excellent. Decals went on without a problem and did not silver. You also get wheels, hull and turret with good detail molded in. I was impressed with the weld lines on the turret and the detail of the band tracks. On the other hand, I was disappointed with the molded-on handles on the stowage bins and the hatch covers. I filed them off and made new ones from styrene. Speaking of stowage bins, they are open on the bottom, which is something you run into with old Tamiya kits such as this M41 and the Japanese Type 97 Chi Ha. I used sheet styrene to cover the bottoms of the stowage bins, but with the tracks in place the change is barely noticeable, which I suppose was the reasoning at Tamiya to begin with. The upper and lower hulls fit well and can be held together with part B8, which is a clip that betrays this kit's ancestry as a battery-powered toy. Inside the lower hull are the remnants of a bracket for two AA batteries. The suspension arms are molded onto the lower hull and appear toylike from underneath but a little bit of filing and sanding helped. The tires are well defined on the outside of the outer road wheel but not so much on the inside and on the inner wheels. Still, the wheels and return rollers have sharp detail and with a wash, they look good. When assembled, the inner and outer wheels trap a nylon bushing that pushes onto the axle for a firm fit and eliminates any alignment problems. The return rollers are glued on without a bushing. Highlight of this kit for me was the turret grab irons. They are separate pieces and are detailed with weld marks. The attachment points on the turret are clear and make for a firm weld. With two water cans and an opening hatch for the commander's cupula, a striking turret takes shape. The .50-cal anti-aircraft gun is OK and comes with a separate ammo can and carrier. I would have used it, but I just happened to have a better .50 cal left over from an Academy kit, so I went with that instead. Tamiya supplies a separate sledge for the turret side and a pry bar for the stern and both are good. However, the shovel and pick are molded into a tool box and look toylike. I cut them out and used a shovel from the spares box. The kit includes three full figures: a commander intended to stand inside the cupola on the turret (although no stand is provided for him) and two infantrymen to pose beside the tank. The infantrymen are well equipped with weapons, packs and other gear. Overall, the quality of these figures is not outstanding. Still, for the price they are a pleasant bonus. The instructions are adequate for a kit of this simplicity but it is clear they were not written by an English speaker. Included is a paragraph titled How To Make the Gun Shield Cover and even though it is accompanied by two illustrations, it is almost incomprehensible. On the plus side, the box art is excellent. When the dust settled, I was glad I bought this kit. For one thing, it illustrates beautifully how good Tamiya was in the 1970s and how much better it is today.
This was an ok kit to build.
I built this kit, and struggled with some of the turret parts (i.e. the handles on the side) because they had no really pronounced way of telling if they were positioned right, and would constantly fall down while glued. I also agree with a statement from the spotlighted review from rockykeele almost the entire bottom of the tank hull is one molded piece, with very little for the builder to do. Wheels are glued on, but that is about it - I prefer to build the suspension and lower hull, but this kit doesn't allow for that. Rocky makes some great points, and I agree with the suspension part, that's a really fun part of tank builds, or vehicle builds in general. Another thing that I disliked was the fact the box looks to have a cover for the gun area closest to the turret, but it does not contain this. It's an easy fix, just have a latex glove, and paint it after cutting/fitting it like it would be around the gun/turret part. (I will post a picture once I get the chance) All around, it's a good kit for beginners, but if you want something fun/ a challenge to build, I wouldn't recommend this kit. I will mark this as a yes for the recommend inquiry, but that is just cause its a good beginner kit.
Excellent Kit
By: alex
This tank was an overall winner. The details are excellent along with the perfect fit of the parts. The turret is very easy to assemble due to its simple design. Also using a precision for the details when they already already cemented on can save a major headache. I would suggest the Tamiya olive drab(XF-62) because it does not get clogged in your airbrush as much as other brands. Also painting the road wheels while they are still on the sprues saves a major headache and allows for easy attachment. Overall when assembling it is good to paint the upper hull, lower hull, and turret separately so that it would cause less trouble. The use of primer is also important to take away the plastic texture on the tank. The handles on the turret are very accurately place and give the tank more realism. I usually don't like rubber band treads much but the ones included with this tank were phenomenal. Sadly, the decals tear pretty easily like most Tamiya decals but once applied, they look very good on the model. It would also be helpful if the colors needed to paint the tank were included on the box but it is overall a great model.
The Walker Bulldog in all its glory
This tank was a very easy model to put together. While I have not yet built my Bulldog, my sister has built hers. She put this tank together in record time (it was that easy!), and the model gave her no problems whatever! I watched her build the thing, so I saw all the parts fit together wonderfully. The paint job was super simple, and their were decals for three schemes included. Rubber tracks were given in this kit - which I believe gives greater detail to the model as a whole. This bulldog has a rotating turret, elevating gun, movable machine gun, three extra figures (one tank commander, two in-action infantry figures), and I believe this thing could be converted to rc, since there were holes of the right size on the base of this. It's a beginner's model for sure, so one should not expect awesome detail. However, I felt the detail was descent enough, and the ease-of-build definitely made this tank worth the money. I'd recommend this kit to anyone but babies.
Good Tamiya Model
I didn't get this from hobbylinc.com, but after seeing hobbylinc's lower price on it, I'll be sure to pick up some in the future from here. This kit, like most Tamiya kits, pretty much falls together and looks great when it's finished. The figures included are WW2 figures, so they don't really go with the kit, but I found a nice use for them anyway (they are now happily sitting in a diorama). This kit has rubber band tracks which go together very easily (nice directions on how to do this). Relatively small parts count and doesn't take much skill to put together, in fact it took me maybe 2 hours to put it together. There is quite a bit of detail and it gives options for modification (it tells you how to make a gun shield cover) and gives you markings for US or Japanese army. Combined with the Tamiya Weathering Master Powders, it can be turned into something wonderful. Probably the best kit for its price, and still holds up despite being old.
The Walker Bulldog
This is a great kit for the money. There was virtually no flash. If there were any, I did not notice any. The kit came together very easily. I did not have any issues with the assembly. I had only a minimum amount of paint on hand but I used what I had; olive green, flat black, silver and some browns and tans. The tracks assembled easily. However, the only problem I had were the handles that glue to the turret. They were so small and I did not have a pair of tweezers to help in assembly. I should have glued them on before I painted it. After I assembled it, I used some browns, flat blacks and tan paints to weather it a little bit. I just dry brushed it. It came out great. I highly recommend this kit because of it's great price and ease of assembly. It's a good kit for the beginner and a great kit for detailing for the experienced modeler.
Great little knockaround kit
If you are new to the hobby, buy five of them for the price of a Tamiya Sherman or Abrams and learn to build, fill, and weather in successive kits. It goes together easily - only the grab handles on the turret are especially fiddly - and produces a decent representation of a light tank. My only complaint is that the M41 just wasn’t a huge factor in any particular historical event, so it almost seems odd that this has been produced so widely for so long. It saw some Cold War duty, and seems to have been the ARVN tank of choice in Vietnam, but it’s not the iconic tank of any specifically interesting engagements. Recommend as a low-stakes investment to build and learn on, and have a good representative of general “tankiness” without necessarily saying “this tank was a huge factor in the Gulf War.”
Old classic
Well will start by saying I noticed reviews wear people are commenting about lack of detail in this kit. Well remember this kit is well over 30 years old. I built this kit over 25 years ago when I was a young lad. I decided to buy this for mu nephew to do his first armor build he ended up building another kit, so I decided to do it for weekend project. It was kinda fun to kick back to the ole days, no photo etched, no individual tracks or numerous parts. The tracks aren't the best or is the suspension and the figures (command figure) is a bit off scale (more like 1/32)..I used a figure from another classic Tamiya kit. SO the I built the kit in like 13 hrs and it turned out ok. I recommend this kit for any first time builder or younger builder or just someone wanting a weekend project.
Great Starters Kit
I have been making models for a few months now (I'm 18). I started out with an FA/18, then an Apache, and then this M41 Walker Bulldog. I got to say, this model was very straight forward and a lot of fun to build. The instructions were very understandable and clear. Each step included a detailed explanation of how one should go about painting or assembling. For example, it didn't just show you how to assemble the wheels, the kit explained how to paint, glue and mount the wheels. I was very pleased with the kit as a whole. The construction of the plastic is superb. Each piece shows great attention to detail. There are even little hammers and shovels that you can paint and mount on the tank! I would recommend this kit to experts or beginners. You can't go wrong with it. 5/5 stars!
A Great Beginner's Kit
I think I have built at least two of these kits way back in the early Tamiya days and found the kits of this era to be quite simple and without too much detailing. The parts are set so that they are easily assembled and there is a little flash but nothing to stop a novice from enjoying the kit. Molded in Army O.D. a novice builder could even get away without painting the kit and leave it a freshly painted tank although I recommend painting the kit in some other way to bring out the details. The kit figures are a bit large and heavy for today's standards but remain true to the older Tamiya one piece mold. With some attention to detailing a novice or even an old hand could do a lot to improve the looks of this ever-soldiering on model that keeps appearing on every hobby shop shelf.
Old but a good model for starters
I started building models a few months ago and this is the very first kit I modeled even though I had options of buying way newer models. The build is very easy and with the exception of some minor flash all pieces fit together well. The kit has a low piece count which is good for beginners however now that I have built a couple more models it is clear that this one doesn't quite have the detail you would expect from today's model kits. I think this kit was great for its time and can still be a fun build and which is why I recommend this for starters, it also helped me appreciate the quality of today's models more and grasp how far along this hobby has come. I would definitely recommend it for starters or for someone looking for a model to test weathering and painting methods.
Slightly dissapointing tank kit
While the finished product looks impressive, I was slightly disappointed in the Tamiya US M41 Walker Bulldog kit. First off, almost the entire bottom of the tank hull is one molded piece, with very little for the builder to do. Wheels are glued on, but that is about it - I prefer to build the suspension and lower hull, but this kit doesn't allow for that. Also, the suspension that is part of the mold has no detail on the back side, which was a little dissapointing. Also, the one piece treads are lacking detail on the inside, looking rather artificial. On the plus side, the kit does come with two crewmen, and if you prefer quick builds, the overall time to build was much less than other tank kits that I have done. I personally, prefer more pieces than this kit offered.
Great entry level model
This is my first model tank I've ordered and completed. I chose Tamiya because of the price of their products and I've read that they are simple without leaving detail out. The pro's for this item are that its great for a beginner, simple, not a lot of parts, not a lot of time to complete and the directions are straight forward and easy to follow. Complete construction took me 1-3 days, about 20 hours total without the time having to wait for the glue to settle. The only con is that the figures do not come painted but I expected that and also some parts are very tiny so be careful when cutting them off the sprue, The figures come in dark green once fully assembled and the paint for them needs to be applied yourself. Overall its a great product for the right price.
A lot of fun for the price
By: KTM450
There are many good reviews on this kit already so I'll try to not repeat myself. The kit although simple took me longer than many of the folks here. Probably about 1 1/2 weeks working part time on it but this included painting and weathering. I normally build cars but I wanted to learn weathering techniques and bought this kit to practice. It's my first armor anything since I was a kid a looong time ago. I really enjoyed the build and the painting/weathering that I'm considering more challenging military models. Even though the model is ridiculously cheap, you still enjoy Tamiya quality. Perhaps a bit more parts cleanup than other Tamiya kits but still way better than some other brands. With Tamiya you get what you pay for but in this case you get more.
She's An Oldie but is Still Okay
This kit is a 70s kit and it does show that age. Like many of those era Tamiya kits it's based on a motorized kit. Details can be soft and omitted. The kit builds up easily...though the turret grab handles can be quite annoying. The main gun barrel, commander's hatch, and .50 cal fit loose and the jerry cans are the old simplified versions Tamiya put out. If you replace those it's probably a good idea to change out the .50 cal as well. I built mine as a what-if by adding drum style aux fuel tanks, side skirts, and giving it a worn desert camo scheme. If you want an accurate Walker Bulldog, AFV Club is the better option. But the Tamiya kit is inexpensive and can be a fun little weekend build.
great parts fit.
this is a great kit. part fit is incredible, as always with Tamiya. nice detail on the weld lines, and the barrel halves glue together very nicely, resulting in a good, straight barrel. the tracks are a bit tricky to paint, but there's plenty of references online as to how to paint them. I used acrylics, then dry brushed with some enamels. coulda been better, but this was my 1st crack at em. but, this is a fun kit to build, and can be built quite quickly. another plus is, if you don't glue the commanders feet to the bottom hull half, the turret is easily removed, so if you seal up the holes in the bottom of the lower hull half, it makes a nice little hiding place for small items.
Get what yuo pay for
It is an older kit from a simpler time. Fairly low parts count which means less detail. Builds into a decent representation of an M41 but if yuo want lots of details go buy yhr more expensive kits. Details lacking on back of roadwheels. But if you are looking fo ran easy build this could be it. If you plan on putting in hundreds of hours in on a model, splurge and buy the more expensive ones out there. I Have bullt three over the years usually while TV was on. First one wound up being built as being stepped on by Godzilla. Last one was used to experiment on weathering techniques. Overall it was worth what it cost for me, but I build for my own amusement not to win contests
Tamiya Good
Yes this is an ancient mold, but still a very nice kit. Maybe not as intricately detailed as much newer kits, but I enjoyed putting it together and painting and weathering it. Very little flash to deal with though the parting lines require work. The only problem I had was with the headlight protection framing. The design and instructions were vague and resulted in too short vertical members and I had to cut them off and cement new strip members. The fix worked out fine, but could have done without the aggravation. Again this is solid kit and shows that Tamiya has been doing it right for a very long time.
US M41 Walker Bulldog 1/35 Scale Tamiya
This is an old kit from Tamiya, but that should not stop you from purchasing it. It is a great model to build. It assembles easy right out of the box, plus it can be detailed up to make a good model an even better one. If you are just starting out in building models and wish to build a tank this is a great kit to start with. Be sure to fill in the holes on the bottom of the tank from where a motor can be mounted. The figures included in the kit are nice, but newer accessories and weapons are a great addition to making them better. A little time and planning can turn this kit from a good one to a masterpiece.
This is a fun kit that would be ideal for a beginner
This kit is just great. Pros: The parts count is reasonable. The quality is top notch. The molds are crisp with no flash and few seams to fill. The price is outstanding. The size is just right. The gun barrel requires work, but careful attention and patience will lead to outstanding results. The commander figure comes out really well. Cons: the M41 has no real combat experience with the US Army so its hard to put in a combat context. The infantry figures are okay. The rubber band tracks were okay, but WAY too tight! Overall, I loved it. It was a quick build, and I am thrilled with the result.
Good value kit.
This is a great beginners kit. It is also the perfect model to pick if you've never done anything except an automobile before. Which surprisingly is the majority of us. While its a pretty simple kit it also gives us a chance of wonder, to not automatically know which pieces go were because we've built the same style engine 15+ times. All the pieces fit in place well as you should have no issues in that department. This is a great kit to take your painting skills alittle farther and give the rustic looks a go at it. Just overall great kit for a good value. 5 stars.
Easy to build but some parts are a little flimsy
This set is pretty easy to build. The only part that gave me some trouble are the rows of hand rails on the turret. It's not hard to get them on, but the fitting of the rails into the holes isn't completely sized correctly, so slight bumps could cause a handrail to fall out. Crawling on the ground with a flashlight and magnifying class ensues. There is also a little lack of detail in the model. There isn't much to attach to the side or top of the chassis. This means unless you paint it fully and weather it, it won't look as good as some other models out there.
Nice classic Tamiya kit; great for everybody!😁
This kit was gifted to me over the holidays. After a couple of days I popped it open and got busy. I intended to build straight from the box but changed my mind. While this model is old Tamiya, it is a fun build, and I had no issues whatsoever in assembly. Just take your time. I added new tracks (the AFV Club M41 tracks fit nicely). Did some scratch building and added various home made and aftermarket stowage items to this kit to make it pop. This kit was a great joy to build!! Highly recommended for the new and the old hand model builders!!!😄
High quality but relatively simple build. Great price point for practicing finishing techniques.
Overall, a very simple model to assemble. It is a great model for beginners as it is very inexpensive and the build process is very straight-forward, with typical Tamiya quality on the parts. I still consider myself somewhat of a beginner and found the assembly to be unsatisfying, as it was very fast with comparitively little detail. However, for the price, is still a good bang for the buck and it will help me with my painting, weathering skills. I would highly recommend for practice on the finishing side with such a low price.
Great Cheap Beginner Kit
This was my first painted kit and i end very satisfied with the look of the tank. At first i was a bit dubious about this tank because it is a bit old kit and the detail is not very good, also it has some imperfection that need sanding but after some work it looks great. I painted with a precision brush the bolts of the tank of yellow with a little patience and i choosed the japanese version to break the monotony. The fit is good and the detail is pretty acceptable. This tank is excellent for people who are starting in this hobby.
General Walker Would be Proud of this M-41 BullDog
This kit was a joy to build. It was very well cast and the fit was second to none. Even though it was a simple and quick build, it was very rewarding to see the finished product as designed. I had no issues except the decals that were rather old and stubborn. I like that Tamiyas tanks are moulded it color appropriate plastic that takes very little effort to make authentic. I would definitely recommend this model to any skill level builder. It was fun and looks great. Worth every dollar. Im on to the next Tamiya Tank(s).
Great kit
This kit is awesome! Great price. Can't go wrong with it. It's a great kit for someone that's just starting out. Or a father and son project. Not many parts and everything just falls into place. Typical tamiya product. The detail is better than what you would think with such a low price. The figures could be a little better but it's an old kit. I'm definitely going to get a few more for a diaroma. Very great and fun build. Can't go wrong with price and product.
A fun kit with great detail
By: dw5728
For the price, you can't beat this Tamiya kit. It may not have the detail that some look for that are used to building a fifty dollar kit, but that's okay because it gives you all the more options to be creative and give it your own personal touch. I found it a pleasure to build with no fit issues. Not bad on seam lines, injection mold or flash, so it gives the builder more confidence and creativity to enjoy the process and really make a stellar Tank. Highly Recommended.
Fantastic Military Kit!!!
Once again the fabulous Tamiya company does not disappoint when it comes to their fine model kits. As any model builder worth their salt would expect, this kit and its figures are not pre-painted. If you're wanting or expecting pre-painted figures then perhaps model building is not for you, perhaps collecting action figures would be more appropriate for these people. If you're looking for a fun and entertaining model though I highly recommend this fine kit.
Great Build on on a unique Light weight Tank on a Light weight Price!!!
There are several more hardy designs of this model out the but for the price it just can't be beat it goes together so well , it is not time consuming and yet still it carries a certain level of unique quality and design with plenty of detail. so If this was to for a beginner or pro I think in my own opinion, for the price and how quickly the vehicle gets constructed without too much labor required it makes for a FUN and GREAT BUILD!! Scott M.
A Wonderful Model Tank
First of all I loved the super low price that I paid. Once the tank was received at my home, I immediately started on it. Loved building this tank, as it was built with no big head scratching instructions. The Final product looks great. Highly recommend for tank building lovers. Only drawback I felt, was it needed more decals, but not a big deal. Action figures helped to add to realism of the tank. I would grade this an A.
Impressive Kit for the Price
This U.S. M41 Walker Bulldog is a great kit, especially when you consider the price. It is easy to understand why so many have downloaded great pictures and offered helpful reviews for this kit. The casting of the pieces are clean, the fit is excellent, and instructions are straight forward. Tamiya includes 3 figures, a commander and 2 infantrymen (with weapons and gear), which adds another fun component to the build.
Great model! (with some flaws)
The model is a really good representation of the Walker Bulldog, in all it's a great model kit but with two frustrating things I found... 1.) The ammo box for the MG is supposed to be mounted to the left of the MG, but in my model the opening to mount it on the MG was on the right side. 2.) There are no German decals even though these tanks where supplied to Germany after WWII (50's).
Easy Build
This model was a very easy build, and I would recommend it highly for beginners. However, the greatest fault this model possessed was that the instructions did not include what color to paint many of the pieces. Instead I was forced to rely much on the box's picture. Other than that, this model was quick to build and easy to put together. I would not mind buying another in the future.
Nice Kit
Just wanted to say this is a nice little kit to put together. Details are very nice. Assembly is a breeze. Unfortunately this one will not make it to the shelf because I bought it to practice armor painting techniques since I just made the leap from building aircraft to armor. I am happy to find that Tamiya armor kits are done with the same high quality as their aircraft kits.
One of my favorite builds
this kit in my opinion is simply fantastic. the price is right. it's a BULLDOG. everything fit together close to perfect. i had more fun building and painting this than i have doing the same with models 5 times more expensive. great for beginners. i am actually going to be purchasing 3 or 4 more in the near future for a diorama. highly recommend this kit.
Excellent quality model Bulldog Tank
This is typical Tamiya quality but very inexpensive. There are great details on the outside of the tank and the molding quality is excellent. Minimal decals because it is a tank. I didn't use the figures but they are well detailed as well. Easy to build and paint. The tracks and wheels run and the turret rotates while the gun can go up and down. Great buy.
Good intro into tank building
This kit is from a 70s mold. The tracks are rubber band style meaning they are one piece vinyl. This kit looks as if it were originally intended to be equipped with an electric motor as there are certain holes in the chassis that would accept batteries, a motor and some gearing. I enjoyed this kit as it was my first tank i've built and was simple to build.
A basic, cool looking tank
The Walker Bulldog was a tank that was obsolete right off the drawing board--- too big to be a light tank and not powerful enough to be a medium. However, it is one cool looking tank. Tamiya's kit goes together very well, excellent parts fit, the rubber band tracks are right on and there' enough detail to please even the hard core painters.
An amazing starter and perfect model for kitbashing
This was one of my first models ever. I built and messed up alot, but after gaining a few years of experience, I went back and tried again and it became one of my favorite models. Everything about it is simple yet well made and priced. Whether you are new or just looking for an easy kit, this one is great for any type of theme/style/ or reason.
Good starter model.
I picked this as my first model to see if I would enjoy making them. It was fairly easy to assemble, I messed up a couple of times (the antennas are very thin I almost broke one), but this was my own error. The instructions were clear and very readable. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, and I plan on buying more models from Tamiya soon.
Great model
This is a great and easy small model for everyone weather u are just starting out or you have been doing it for years and even though it may have extra parts that u don't use you can use them on other models i used the rifles and helmets from my figures and put them on the tank for looks All and all a great kit and definitely recommend
very good and an excellent price
don't let the cheap price fool you because this is a good model and the finished product is well worth your time. the detail is amazing considering the price. I had no problems with parts fitting. it has 3 good figures that you can put with this kit or any dioramas you might have. I have no issues with this one and would recommend to all.
sage advice for all
took another reviewer's suggestion and bought a few of these inexpensive kits to try different weathering techniques and camouflage patterns without ruining something more dear. they and their accompanying figures are also staples in dioramas for american holidays. i prefer to secure my tracks with an extra stitch of black thread
Excellent
Iv'e built the walker bulldog in the past so I decided to build another but paint it in a Nato camouflage scheme this time . The model kit has some nicely detailed parts and a perfect fit nothing hard all easy to assemble as most Tamiya tanks are. It goes great with any tank model collection you won't be disappointed.
Brilliant detail at a low price
This is a nice kit and at an extraordinary price. I'm always impressed with Tamiya's ability to produce picture perfect molded parts at a reasonable cost. This kit is stereotypical of that. The part count is low a low and the build simple, but the detail is quite amazing and the finished result very rewarding.
tank
Very fun build. First kit to build in about 50 years. Just retired and started this as a hobby. Kit had good instructions . All parts fit together very well. Only recommendation is to put the antennas on last or they will get broken off and you will have to make new ones(which I did but I like the new ones better).
Great Kit
This kit is one of the very few I’ll give a 5 star rating. Tracks are the only coin but that’s nothing in my opinion, they’re all a pain sometimes, lol. This kit has very little flash and the pieces fit well together very well. I enjoyed this kit so much I’ve built 3 recently. Great kit for beginners, ENJOY!
Fun model, excellent purchase.
Awesome tank. Tamiya never disappoints. At this price you can't complain, nor would you find a reason to. Fun build lots of customizable options. Tracks are one piece rubber, not multiple pieces. ( Hate those things ) Metal tracks and upgrades available but very pricey.
Great kit for a beginner
This is a fantastic kit for someone just starting out the hobby or even an experienced modeler wanting to put together an example example of the M41. The build comes together without any major issues and the details are enough to satisfy all but the most demanding historian.
great starter kit
this is a fantastic and simple kit, the detail is good and comes with a lot of extras such as small arms and figures. the best part is the kit is molded in correct color so if you're a beginner and don't glob it up with glue a simple coat of dull is all you need.
Good for the age
Picked up from a chain craft store and was impressed by the quality for a 1970s mold did have minor flash a long with mold lines but that is to be expected fit was good tracks are 1 piece vinyl but replaceable but a good beginner build or team project with child
Awesome kit for the money!
IT was a simple, yet fun and detailed kit. It didn't take that long to put together. For a cheaper model, it was very well detailed and even came with 3 figures! I like the movable gun and turret, that is a nice feature. I would recommend this kit to anyone.
Good kit for price
A very solid kit for the price. Tamiya quality, though it's an older mold for sure. Surprisingly small amount of parts but good level of detail. The M41 is solid kit for an amateur or newbie alike. Plenty of decal options, though none used in my build.
Great kit
This is a great kit. It is cheap and easy to put together, so great for the beginner or the experienced modeler. There was little cleanup on the parts. Some of the parts are pretty small and can get lost easily. The instructions were nice and clear.
Cool looking tank, nice kit
This kit is generally inexpensive, and a great kit for anyone who hates the drudgery of having to assembly complex tank wheel suspensions that are generally hidden by road wheels anyway. Comes with two well-posed support soldiers and a tank commander.
Cheap and Nice
Incredibly cheap and fairly easy to build. I use these to practice new painting and weathering techniques and have a mini battalion of these tanks. The tracks are terrible. Buy aftermarket versions, but then again most included tracks are terrible.
Walker tank
This is my 1st model since the '70's. It went together really nice and little to no flash to remove unlike back in the day. Looking to build Tamyia kits in the future. Fun build and a few mistakes that were corrected before it was to late.
Great Build for the money
I really liked this tank. It is great for the money and an amazing piece of cold war history. I chose to build the us tank in Japanese ARMY service version it offers. I did not use the 2 infantry figures, just the tank driver and their equipment.
Fun Kit to build
It is a fun kit to build, not too many parts but very good detail for its time and simplicity. With some scratch building and using references can be built into a more accurate tank. I enjoyed building it and it is a must for any collection!
great detail
this Tamiya M-41 bulldog was a great model to build. The detail and the skill of the model was awesome i would recommend this model to anyone who is looking for a model that is fun and fun to test your weathering skills on.
Great model for the price!
I put it together in an afternoon, really good fit. Interesting that you can turn these into RC models as the tracks and wheels turn. overall a great model. gonna paint soon with my new airbrush and post some pics.
Excellent model
I don’t have enough good things to say about this model. It’s a great scale and has incredible detail. It looks INCREDIBLE when weathered. I really enjoyed putting this model together. Definite 5 star!
Walker Bulldog
One of the more enjoyable model kits to build, very pleased with the final product. Excellent details in the parts, easy and relatively quick assembly, very much recommended as a model kit for beginners.
Nice project
Not complexe and straight forward assembley. Not much painting if by instructions. A realist will need to do more. Turret view ports are not clear so that is one change to be made if you want realism.
Fine kit
This is a great kit. But some of the parts don't fit properly and some steps of the instructions are not clear. Also the rubber tracks keept snapping of one of the road wheels and bending 2 others.
Excellent for an ancient kit
As old as this kit is it still builds up into one fine display model. Everything fit perfectly and my kit had no flash at all. The only thing I don’t like is the commander seems way out of scale.
Well detailed kit like all the other Tamiya kits.
This as my first kit but i wouldn't recommend it being a first kit due to many small parts like the grab handles (They where a pain lol). This kit is fun to do. Like i said it has many details.
very nice kit
bought this kit as my first model tank. very easy to assemble and looks great as well. lots of detail and quick assembly. highly recommend this kit to beginners and advanced modelers alike. A+
basic, older kit
This kit came out in the 1970s and is a good kit to build quickly. I was my first tank kit after returning to the hobby. You can find a lot of aftermarket add-ons to really detail this tank.
Well worth the money!!!!!! Would except to pay more that $30.
Very enjoyable to build! It's nice to have a model and not have to work about flash or having to putty areas that don't fit well. Perfect for the beginner or experienced builder.
Just a little TLC needed
Even though this kit is pretty old. It was a pretty simple and easy model to assemble. All the pcs fit together nicely. And with just a little bit of TLC. This kit turns out pretty nice.
Tamiya M41 tank.
Have been building primarily Revell kits up untill this model and found that the fit and finish is far superior to anything thus far and is very inexpensive considering the high quality.
Awesome model
I already have one built and decided that this was a great model. It is perfect for beginners and also something for experienced modellers also. for a cheap price this has great detail
Well-designed Walker bulldog
Great model, made for my dad for Christmas. Adds a lot to his office. Comes with men and gun, as well as rotating turret and moveable gun rack. Would recommend. Flawless but not easy.
Quick build - good detail for the price
This is the second Bulldog that I have built and find it easy - no flashing - parts fit well - rubber tracks are not a problem - a good starter for a new modeler
Great Model
Only my 3rd kit but extremely easy to put together, well molded, and looks great when finished. Only complaint would be that I found the treads hard to connect.
Good Kit!!
Like all Tamiya Kits, This is an easy build. Everything fits perfectly. A lot of details. I recommend this kit for beginners or those who restart this hobby.
Great, easy model
Very well put together model, fairly detailed and easy to assemble. This model definitely is worth it for beginners as well veterans in the hobby.
a good kit for the money
I put together this model a while ago. I was pretty easy. I was able to get the detail that i wanted. Over all it was a great kit to build.
Great Kit
Although Tamiya tank kits are on the easy side of model building, I really love how detailed the kits are. Great kit for the tank enthusiast.
My first tank
Tamiya just have all bets covered, I’m going To enjoy this looks really detailed and not to difficult even for a novice like myself.
m41 walker bulldog # tam35055
i had a lot of fun putting this model together. it was easy to do and it came out really detailed, I had no problems with it at all.
Typical Tamiya Quality
Absolutely amazing fit and directions. Only wish it used the link and length track instead of the rubber band tracks included.
Surprised
Great price and enjoyed building more than expected. Decided to make a diorama because of the figures that were included.
Such a cool tank model!
If you are looking for a model M-41, this is the one. It cleans up so nice. It is a fun build, with some cool decals.
Like alot
This tank was easy to build not too many small parts to deal with. The instructions were easy to understand and read.

High quality Tamiya product at a great price!
Looking forward to assembling this kit. I am always impressed by Tamiya and Hobbyinc has the paints as well!
My M 41
Very nice model and you can’t beat the price. Also there a at least three decal options to choose from.
Historical and nice little tank
Figures are well done, been a classic and having great details this model it's a must.
US M41 Walker Bulldog
Great price. Great model. If you love tank this is the one for the beginner to build.
Beginner's Build!
Fun kit and a good starter kit for the price. Good intro to working with figures too.
Tamiya M41
This is an overall good product, but the details are a bit chunky in some areas.
One of my favorites
Really good kit. Quick to build but full of detail. One of my favorite kits yet.
Great kit
Great kit for beginners and experienced modellers alike! Very easy to assemble.
