Love the concept! Very therapeutic!
Nice!! I didn't really expect to see a box of bagged parts. It was fun to just build it! What's really cool is the kit needs one E-clip and one small washer; you get three of each. So if you lose one (I lost an E-clip altogether), you have spares. I had no trouble from the washer (I have Benign Emergent Tremor syndrome and my hands shake some) but I dropped all three of the e-clips...took me a while but found two of them (they blend great with a blue-gray carpet). Finally got one to secure without jumping off. Tiny hardware! Really nice to have spares, especially the 3mm washers! Then it was all together and I went looking for batteries and something to perforate! Even drills 2mm holes in old oak and 1/8 inch aluminum (yeah, I know it was a torture test). Great idea and great little tool! 0
Great tool!!
I was dubious of this drill; if nothing else, I felt it might be fun to build. It WORKS. Very well. I used it extensively on my most recent project, the Mack R680 transformed into a rat rod, my Rat Mack. Not only can you use drill bits, but also Dremel tool style tips, and the RPMs aren't very high. There is no variable speed; it's either on or off - if you had the parts and the desire, I can see that it wouldn't be difficult to put a variable control. One nice thing - the kit needs one E-clip and one small washer; you get three of each. So if you lose one (I lost an E-clip), you have spares.
Must Have Model Tool
I finally broke down and bought an electric model drill after getting tired of drilling holes manually. I can honestly say I regret not buying one of these sooner. It's a pretty straight forward drill. Has only one speed that is lower RPM but is perfect for drilling holes in plastic models. Comes with two chucks with the smallest one being able to hold a 1mm drill bit. Didn't realize that the drill is a model kit itself and requires assembly. It took me about 40 minutes to build it. Takes two AA batteries. Definitely recommend buying one if you drill a lot of holes.
A gotta have tool in the arsenal
I don't know how I did without this small but very effective drill! You won't use your pin vise again for drilling plastic and resin parts. Of course, the best part is that it spins more slowly than the high rpms of your Dremel or other moto-tool, so you're not melting the plastic as you drill. I've used it to drill literally thousands of windows and port holes on my starship and other models. The only quirky thing is that it's actually a kit that you have to assemble, but that only takes 20 minutes before you're in business.
Great little drill kit...
One of the best hobby investments I made... not only do you get the satisfaction of building this kit yourself it is also one of the handiest tools you will need for model building... Lightweight but packs a lot of torque for drilling through most hobby plastics and wood... The two collets give you a nice range of bit sizes to use... Highly recommended...
Handy little drill
Not for the inexperienced person as this is a kit, very nice one with excellent instructions, which must be assembled. Excellent for modeling, scratch building, etc. You'll never use a pin drill again and is doesn't burn the plastic due to low speed. Very nice for the dollars.
A great tool and a fun kit as well.
I found this to be a fantastic addition to my modelling tool kit. It has plenty of power, and the lower rpms work great on plastic and wood (unlike the dremel). It was also a quick, high-quality and fun build. I highly recommend this kit to all modelers.
And now there are two........

Got bored one day while I was here on line so I bought another of these. Not really sure I can say I needed the second one but they are really handy and I had fun building them. If nothing else I can sit and use each of them to drill holes in the other.
Hand Drill Kit -- #74041
What a wonderful tool to have in your hoddie toolbox. The best thing is that you get to assemble the drill yourself. This is why I recommend any of TAMIYA products. Very good quality and durability for its uses.
Assembly required.
Cute little drill, haven't had to use it often but it works fine. Be aware that it comes as a kit and needs to be assembled. All the pieces parts are on sprues.
Handy drill

I have used this a few times and it works well. It saves a lot time over a pin vise. You have to assemble it yourself and I wondered how long it will hold up.
very handy
this drill is very handy to have. it does very well on wood or plastic etc. easy to manipulate and spins at a nice low rpm making it very easy to control.
Tamiya Handy Drill

Already using it, fun to assemble too
Already used it to pin the rotor blades on a Blackhawk Helicopter.
