It's not even a good silver!
About the only things this one has going for it is that it's a solvent-based acrylic, that is brushable, and that dries fast. However, if you think airbrushing will make it look better, please check out the photo I just uploaded, which compares it to Mr. Hobby Chrome Silver. As you can see, the Tamiya product could hardly be called reflective, which is something you should be able to say about plain old silver - otherwise, it's more or less, just gray. And this is diluted 2:1 and airbrushed lightly (over raw shiny plastic and Cobra Gloss Black primer, and again, there is no real difference). You might just go ahead and use it as your go-to brushable, because it isn't going to look much different if you brush it on. And at least it will dry quicker than an enamel.
Looks like Chrome
This paint is a good choice for painting model vehicles that has parts that are chromed. It is a glossy paint that looks realistic when applied. It goes om smoothly and dries quickly, no waiting hours for it to dry. I have used it on my model vehicles, and they look great. I would use this on any models that that are needing chrome accents, as it works great.
Kudos Tamiya
The majority of my acrylics are Tamiya for the quality and hues they blend but this Chrome Silver is dynamic. I just airbrushed two bodies with this color as a base coat for clear colors and was simply amazed at this color. As spraying it was great and dried the same. I have not seen another model paint this good right out of the bottle, highly recommended.
My favorite Brand
I have switched to Tamiya acrylics almost exclusively for their quality of finish, non-volitility, and their ability to thin with denatured alcohol. The thinned paints work excellently through an airbrush, but may require a second coat if applied by a brush. The bottles clean very well when emptied for use as a paint mixing jar.
Too grainy and hard to get even coat
Compared to other Tamiya acrylics, I was a bit disappointed by this one. It isn't really chrome - more of a silver flake. The model master chrome silver enamel, by comparison, is much smoother and more like chrome. This one is grainy and takes several coats for an opaque layer. Not horrible, though.
Best model paint by far
Tamiya makes the hobby paint on the planet. Its so easy to work with. The coverage is awesome. At first, coming from Testors, I was hesitant because Testors is so thin and barely covers. Once I used it, it was a game changer. I will be switching all my paints to Tamiya.
Very nice!
While this won't ever be a mirror finish chrome, it IS a very nice silver! Works great for that chrome trimming touch up or a fine trim. Now I'm wondering if it will come out as a primary color on a car, like the X-13 metallic blue!
Great alternative for candies
This makes a great alternative to alclad chrome as a candy base. It will obviously not be as mirror, but it is more like an actual candy base. The main plus is the smell is much nicer and is less likely to destroy your respiratory system.
Tired fingers
the paint is a bit labor intensive, it must be extremely well stirred to give it the intended chrome like finish. When applied properly, it will have a relatively glossy appearance and the apparent goal should be achieved.
i use them for all my car and bike models
I use only Tamiya paints on my cars and bike models they go on nice and smooth with no brush marks in the paint they are true to the color they say they are and a must for Tamiya models they out of the brush with hot water
Nice shimmer!
When applied this paint looks great! Helpful tip: Shake up the paint well before painting to ensure a good shimmer on your model. Check the bottle of the bottom to make sure the glitter is not stuck at the bottom.
Paint perfection
Can anyone say anything about Tamiya paint? Hue is always spot on. Cap color always matches the the paint inside. Acrylics mix well and more importantly they match well with the other brands on the market
Nice and shiny
Nice and sparkly when brushed, very shiny when airbrushed, very easy to over thin. I would recommend when thinning use the tamiya thinner at a 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner. (for airbrushing)
Tamiya's Chrome Silver
Has a very good metallic look to it. I used it for drybrushing on parts to show metallic wear and it definitely shows. Be sure to mix it well before using though and always thin.
Tamiya acrylic paint
Another excellent Tamiya product PROs: Great for use w/ airbrush. Goes on smoothly, superb coverage and finish. CONs: None I highly recommend this product.
Window Trim
After thinning this paint it leaves a nice finish when airbrushing or hand painting. I use it on every 1970’s car to detail the trim around the windows.
Great acrylic paint
Paint to Thinner range 2:1 to 1:1 for airbrushing depending on air pressure, paint volume and distance from subject. Experiment on scrap plastic first.
Nice paint, flows well
This is just like any other Tamiya paint. It flows well and dried quickly. It however is more of a metalic looking silver than chrome .
#2
I like Tamiya flat acrylics above all others but when it comes to chrome silver they are a DISTANT SECOND to Testors MODEL MASTER CHROME
Perfect for Portraying Metal
Used this to paint not only plastic airplanes and luggage racks, but also on hydrocal air ducts and A/C vents on top of a cafe roof.
Nice chrome paint
It's hard to find a nice chrome paint. Results with multi coats gets u a nice chrome finish for most applications

Tamiya Paints
I love using Tamiya paints, both spray and bottle. They give an authentic look when I paint my model tanks.
Acrylic X11 Chrome Silver
This works wonders on fixing those little spots of my chrome parts from being removed from the part sheet
