Tamaya Acrylic XF1 Flat Black is an essential basic color for any modeler
Tamaya flat black FX1 is most likely my most used paint. While not everything in our world is flat black it can be mixed with other colors to make hundreds of shades of everyday things. I have not found a model paint that thins or sprays as well as Tamaya for the price. It thin with 91 % alcohol to about a 2:1 ratio and sprays excellent. I also thin almost all my paint to brush them on as well. They flows better and do not leave any brush marks. Tamaya paint can be cleaned up with soapy water or any window cleaner or diluted alcohol.
Versatile Paint
This is one of those paints that you keep lots of because it works well with everything. Need more weathering or some quick shading on a tank? Use this on a brush. Need to paint something black quickly without worrying about the quality of the paint job? Use this. It's a flat color and no one will really notice the bad paint job. I find that this works well with Tamiya's X20A thinner but water and alcohol should do the trick, too. I don't know why you would though.
Good Black
This is good black acrylic paint. It’s in a good sized pot, and its consistency is a bit on the thick side. It thins well with water, and if you thin it to 5-6 parts paint to 1 part water it will give a very nice brushstroke free look in 3-4 coats. Definitely use a surface primer though as this can easily pull off of bare plastic with multiple brushstrokes. Probably black acrylics are pretty standard, but I like the price, value and quality of this one.
Very flat, great coverage
Tamiya acrylics, especially when used with their thinner, spray very well, even with a cheaper airbrush. They also dry quickly, with this color drying to a velvety smooth finish in minutes. If I had to mention one thing I dislike, it's that this isn't darker. Maybe it's just my lighting and the flat finish, but it looks like more of a very dark gray than black, especially when seen next to a heavily-pigmented black artist acrylic.
Tamiya Flat Black XF1 3/4 oz
I have been using Tamiya paints since 2001 and they are excellent acrylics. The flat black is very flat and you will find yourself using it on just about any project that you can build. This is always a color that I order 2 bottles at a time, because I know I will use them up quickly on projects. Remember to get Tamiya X20A thinner, it works well with this product for both brush and airbrush projects.
Tamiya Flat Black
Tamiya Flat Black is an excellent acrylic paint. Tamiya paints are not highly recommended for brush paint but are a superb paint for airbrushing applications. The flat black dries dead flat as it should and has a multitude of uses from pre and post shading to parts that need to be painted all flat black. Great product highly recommended.
Tamiya Acrylic XF1 Flat Black
Tamiya acrylics are easy to handle with superb coverage because of it's fine particles. The flat black is a multipurpose tool because of the amount of things it can be used for, like preshading, base colour, etc. This product is top of the line, so you should buy this. One con to note is that Tamiya acrylics don't brush paint well.

My favorite Brand
I have switched to Tamiya acrylics almost exclusively for their quality of finish, non-volitility, and their ability to thin with denatured alcohol. The thinned paints work excellently through an airbrush, but may require a second coat if applied by a brush. The bottles clean very well when emptied for use as a paint mixing jar.
A must have
This paint should be a part of every model makers supply. Every model calls for flat black, and this is the best flat black money can buy. All Tamiya parts are forgiving and dry quickly, and this is just another example of that. Also it is very easy to detail paint on top of this flat black once it completely dries.
Best black acrylic on the market
Tamiya makes the finest flat black acrylic paint on the market today. I like to thin it about 25% with Future and 25% Tamiya X-20A acrylic thinner for a super smooth and hard finish. I mainly use this paint for pre-shading armor models and paint the tracks. Adding the Future to it will give you a super hard finish.
Great paint
Great paint. I have made the switch from Vallejo to Tamiya due to the coverage and availability. I don't use an airbrush, but with some thinner the paint can be hand brushed just fine. I know with a lot of things it's personal presence but I highly recommend this paint as it gives great coverage.
Always Need Flat Black
I cannot do without flat black paint. And the Tamiya paints are good for this purpose. I find it easier to clean from brushes, but it does not stick to the model as well as Testors and some other brands. So I think it is situation dependent. I always buy the big bottle since it is so useful.
HAPPY CAMPER
SO VERY GLAD THAT TAMIYA PAINTS ARE READILY AVAILABLE ONCE AGAIN......ABOUT TIME. I TRIED OTHER BRANDS OF ACRYLIC PAINT AND DID NOT LIKE THEM NEARLY AS WELL AS TAYMIA. I ALSO THINK THAT USING THEM IS THE BEST WAY TO AIRBRUSH PAINT YOUR MODELS. DON'T EVEN NEED A CLEAR COAT FINISH.
Best model paint by far
Tamiya makes the hobby paint on the planet. Its so easy to work with. The coverage is awesome. At first, coming from Testors, I was hesitant because Testors is so thin and barely covers. Once I used it, it was a game changer. I will be switching all my paints to Tamiya.

tamiya flat black
color is true, looks the same as the bottle top, easy to use flows great, does not dry out in bottle, eassy to seal the best I have ever used. used in paint gun, an eclipse, great color spray no drips dosen't have to be thinned before spraying, easy clean up too.
i use them for all my car and bike models
I use only Tamiya paints on my cars and bike models they go on nice and smooth with no brush marks in the paint they are true to the color they say they are and a must for Tamiya models they out of the brush with hot water
BRUSHMAN
Not being of the AIRBRUSH CLASS I like beginning with FLAT PAINT the only ones go on smooth with NO BRUSH STROKES. I can then spray with any clear coat finish for any desired sheen. FLAT PAINT FOR SURE
Perfectly Flat Finish
Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black Acrylic sprayed without issue from a Neoeco airbrush with .3mm needle, 20PSI, thinned 50/50 with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner. Dried quickly to a perfectly flat finish.
Best paint in my opinion.
Tamiya makes the best paint for action figures in my opinion. I have had problems with other brands being too thick or chipping but this comes ready to use right out of the jar.
Tamiya's Flat Black
Works very well with a bit of Tamiya thinner. Used with hand brushing and still came out fine. The pigments mixed well before stirring up and provided a smooth application.
Tamiya XF1 Flat Black Paint
Tamiya has achieved a texture not found in any other flat black paints I've used. The depth of the black is rich and gives wonderful contrast to adjoining colors.

I mixed this paint with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and it sprayed flawlessly and covers well. When mixed with XF8 this is perfect for Hellcats and Corsairs.

Tamiya acrylic paint
Another excellent Tamiya product PROs: Great for use w/ airbrush. Goes on smoothly, superb coverage and finish. CONs: None I highly recommend this product.
Great acrylic paint!
Paint to Thinner range 2:1 to 1:1 for airbrushing depending on air pressure, paint volume and distance from subject. Experiment on scrap plastic first.
Paint quality
Excellent fast drying paint. Excellent coverage. Streak free. Easy clean-up of brushes. Easy use for beginners and experienced modelers.
XF1 flat black
nice flat black, needs a little thinning in my opinion, but goes on nice and levels well, does dry a little fast so keep that in mind.
A good acrylic flat black
This is a solid black that produces a nice flat finish. Also a great paint to mix with other paints to get the right shade.
Nice Product
Very nice black, nice and flat. Thinning is simple for airbrush use, I recommend 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner.
