Reviews : Tamiya Acrylic Flat XF-62 Olive Drab 3/4 oz

I was happy to order the Testors XF-62 acrylic flat olive drab at a very good price on Hobbylinc. However, upon air bushing two WWII vehicles and applying homemade decals (a lot of work) I placed it next to my other vehicles I realized it they were way too dark. (I was in the army many years ago and I have seen a lot of OD paint!!!) Testors enamel (#1165) is actually pretty darn close. I made a color chip to compare the two but there is nothing on this site to upload th photo.

bought this to use with the German ju87 tank buster with hard edge camo. I used this for the dark color and was originally worried about application. with some tweaking of my airbrush I was able to paint it on without using any thinners. I am still trying different yellows that can be applied like this.

Tamiya makes the hobby paint on the planet. Its so easy to work with. The coverage is awesome. At first, coming from Testors, I was hesitant because Testors is so thin and barely covers. Once I used it, it was a game changer. I will be switching all my paints to Tamiya.

Paint to Thinner range 2:1 to 1:1 for airbrushing depending on air pressure, paint volume and distance from subject. Experiment on scrap plastic first. A little dark for Olive Drab to my eye. Possibly mix a very small amount of flat white to it (at least 10:1). Test first

I got back into modeling recently and began building my toolkit. The Tamiya paints were part of that first paint kit, primarily for WW2 German and US infantry, tanks, vehicles and planes. This paint brushes on well and I mix it 1:1 with thinner when airbrushing.

This is a great color for World War II American armor. It airbrushes great with about 25% of their thinner mixed in. I di lighten this color with Tamiya yellow or desert yellow. I also use Buff to mix in to highlight upper surfaces of the tank.

Getting back into model building. I never airbrushed before. Research told me people were doing a 2:1 ratio with Tamiya paints. I think for a newbie Tamiya paint is kind of forgiving.

great for airbrushing this is my goto paint if you see tamiyas name on it its good stuff works best with lacquer thinner try mr leveling thinner for best results

Very good army themed color that goes well with G.I. Joes and camouflage. Pick up Khaki, Flat Brown, and Flat Black and you'll be ready to go.

This is a great paint. Great price too. Very sharp color. May require additional thinner to apply properly to plastic model

by far this is the best Olive Drab i can find of your doing any type of military camo this should be your choose
