So this is great tape for masking your models before you paint. What makes this tape so great? Basically, it's that it'll stop paint from getting where you don't want it without damaging the surface the tape is stuck to. Yes, painter's blue tape or regular masking tape also do a great job of creating that perfect line between the area you want to paint and the area you want to avoid painting. But depending on how dry that surface was before you taped it or how strong that tape's adhesive is, you risk pulling up the paint or damaging the surface material when you remove the tape. With this tape from Tamiya, that risk is virtually zero.

This tape makes laser straight paint lines. Don't stretch or pull the the tape. Lay it down flat and press down along the edges. Spray light coats to help seal the tape edges and build it up in several coats. Make sure your base paint is cured before using masking tape. Lacquer paints dry from the outside in. So it may feel dry but a strong tape may peel the base coat if you don't let the paint cure all the way to the body. I usually wait several days for the paint to cure before using any masking tape over a painted body.

I just got some rolls of Tamiya masking tape. Up to now I had been using painters masking tape or scotch tape to mask canopies. I had very mixed results with those. I used some Tamiya tape today and found out why it has its reputation. It was like night and day difference between my other options and the Tamiya tape. It is thin, mates to canopy rails very well and cuts easily with an Xacto knife. This is worth every penny of the cost. Highly recommend this tape for masking.

Excellent masking tape when working with enamel paint. The tape does come in different width side but I prefer the 10mm. If using this tape to tape over acrylic paint, the tape will remove the paint when the tape is removed. When painting the water line I used enamel paint to avoid the problem that using Acrylic paint will cause when removing the masking tape.

This tape is excellent for masking. If you burnish the edge down and are careful with your paint there is no paint bleed under. I use this for my fine masking, then use a wider tape over part of it to cover more of the area I don't want painted. I have not had a problem with this tape pulling the undercoat paint off of the model, as long as I let it dry.

Not sure I can add anything that hasn't already been said. Test on scrape plastic painted with the same paint you are wanting to mask to be sure it won't lift paint during the unmasking process. De-tack by sticking to t-shirt if necessary. The only paints I have had it lift is Dullcote over Model Master gloss clear acrylic and Aqua Gloss clear acrylic.

This is the best masking tape f have found. It lays down very well and it stays where you put it. I have yet had any paint bleed under the edges as long as you make sure that you have pressed it down. When you take it off after the paint dries lift it straight up and you should have no problems. Give it a try and I am sure you will like it.

When it comes to masking tape, in my experience, nothing works better than Tamiya masking tape. Whether by itself for smaller details or using Tamiya masking tape in conjunction with other tapes or materials for your bigger jobs. Nothing beats the clean lines and release of Tamiya masking tape.

Tape adheres well but forget about using it for anything but a straight line. And a little expensive for what you get. It's cheaper to use automotive tape instead plus that comes in 1/16 to 1 wide rolls & you get more for the money.

I use this tape to mask canopies and for painting camouflage on model planes. It is very good and never leaks paint and does not pull paint up from previous applications. Tamiya masking tape is the only brand I use.

This masking tape is the best you can buy for your models when you wanna do camp or even racing strips. Sticks well but doesn't hurt your paint job that you have already done. A little pricey but well worth it.

A must have for any painting. My hands aren't as steady as I would like so with this I get nice clean lines. Has zero bleed thru as long as firmly pressed into place. I keep a couple different lengths in my tools.

I've been using Tamiya masking tape for years and can't recommend it enough. It sticks well to any surface but won't peel off the paint when it's removed. Really easy to cut and work with.

This is my favorite tape for masking before spray painting. Burnish down good before painting. Remove slowly, it wont remove paint. Spray light coats to avoid bleeding.

Great tape for masking parts on Gundam models. Stays on firmly and easy to take off reducing the chances of ruining your paint job by peeling off the paint.

Simply the best masking tape out there, never bleeds through for me. Have used it many times to make a sharp line for where 2 different colors meet.

I use this tape for masking off small parts. It sticks well and does not leave glue on the model. Comes in a variety of sizes from 2 mm to 40 mm.

Maybe it's me but I still have leak through edges when used with hand paint jobs. But for all other uses I really like the final result.

For delicate masking, I use nothing but Tamiya yellow tape.
