Fairey Albacore 1/48 Scale Kit Review
This 1/48 scale kit comes from a very familiar Chinese modeling company called Trumpeter. The pros for this kit are as follows: You have three paint schemes to choose from and the one I did is on the cover of the box called 826 NAS (Naval Air Squadron), FAA (Fleet Air Arm). Serial: 4C (L7097). Bircham Newton, September 1940. The other two paint schemes included are 5A: BF612 817 Squadron, FAA, 1942 and unknown unit. Serial: L7074. The illustrations for the painting and placing the decals are in color and easy to follow. The instruction manual is well detailed and easy to follow as well. The decals are mostly easy to get off the paper and applied to the aircraft.
The cons for this kit are as follows: For some reason they don’t tell you what the following pieces the colors they’re supposed to be: A9, D24, D21, C15, and D23. It also has poor fittings in the canopy sections in which there was nothing I could do to resolve it.
In conclusion, I give this kit a rating of 4 stars out of 5. Trumpeter if you’re reading this, it is one of the better kits I’ve worked on from you. Theres just some minor glitches that prevented me from giving this kit a perfect 5 star rating. Otherwise it’s a job well done!
