Book

This is a great book for people who are not just getting into the hobby, but for any kind of modeler who is looking to do some kind of landscaping. This book shows how to do everything you could need, step by step. The book obviously uses Woodland Scenics products throughout the book, but any number of companies products can be used.

This little book is a fantastic resource for starting up a new layout. It's not too long--I was able to read it cover to cover in the time it took for my wife to get her hair done--but is densely packed with great information. The initial construction of my layout would have been much different were it not for the helpful guides and products detailed in the text. It is true that all the products listed are from Woodland Scenics, but their products are typically of pretty good quality. But if you prefer alternatives, it's easy enough to find them while still following the steps outlined in the book. All in all, this book is never more than twenty feet from my layout; it's really that useful.
