Very Flexible Structure
This is a typical high quality Walthers kit. The parts are well made, sturdy and free of flash. There were no warped or broken parts. Everything fit together as designed, with the caveat that I deviated greatly from the instructions. Although called a packing plant, it can be used for just about any sort of factory-like building. The design is typical of the late 19th/early 20th century, before modern advances in artificial lighting (thus all the windows). The package includes one large building with a loading dock, a small building meant to be a powerhouse, a separate cooling tower, chimney, and water tower. Since I put this in a corner I took the two long walls and made a half a building, then took the two short walls and made another half a building and put it on top. I cut a hole for rail access and modified the loading dock. The powerhouse building will go elsewhere on the layout. I added lights and painted some of the windows and it looks great. It did take a while to build and paint, but it was worth it.
