Nice helpful product for small parts
By: ant
The product arrived in a plastic clam-shell package. I took it out and fiddled with it. Nice weighted base should keep it steady and a lot of flexibility in the joints with one somewhat key exception. I twisted one of the alligator clamps and it felt like it was not supposed to twist. This may have been loosened already as the other clamp was on solid and not twistable and the crimping looked different. Fortunately, I model, so a little glue fixed that. However, would be nice if the clamps has a twist ball joint like the rest of the joints. overall outside of that, very nice product. recommend if you do a lot of small models, use etched parts, or just need something to help hold and magnify work in general.
Nice tool and a great pair of extra hands
This comes in very handy all the time on my bench. I use the clamps a lot more than I do the magnifying glass. That I mainly use for very fine painting of parts. The clamps are like an extra set of hands. They are great for holding parts for painting, keeping parts in a certain position while they dry, or anything else that you need them to do. The base is solid and won't tip over from the weight of a model. Unfortunately the one that I have can be a pain as the parts don't like to stay tight and will start to fall if you aren't careful.
Good magnifier
This item is multi faceted. The magnifier can be used to help see small details while painting, and the alligator clips can be used to hold pieces for either painting or drying. I used it to hold pieces as they dried, and a cool thing is you can remove the alligator clips, hold the alligator clip while it is holding a part, them paint the part and not get paint on your hands. Overall a good investment, and the weighted base makes sure it stays stable.
thumbless
I'm afraid I was disappointed in this tool. The wing nut adjusters are clumsy and the magnifying glass fell off within the first week, I repaired it but still, I thought I would have more uses for it than I do. I don't use it much. My regular rubber jawed swivel vise works better. Great in concept, not so great in execution. Not worth the money in my opinion.
It's the helper you always needed!

Like having an extra pair of hands. This little tool has payed for itself repeatedly by helping to see the miniature pieces being worked on while holding them steady. The ball joints make it able to be put in any configuration, too. I couldn't do my modeling without it.

This tool is great for painting those super small parts you can hardly see and hold but in order to paint you have to remove it from the sprue. Also holds the parts for you should you need to glue or repair them.
Helpful Hands
Great for building models parts together when your glueing parts together. Also great for wiring LED and other wiring projects. Hands are great for holding wires together while soldering them together.
Cool Gadget
This equipment has been around for 50 plus years and as a modeler I can not do the detailed work I love to do without this. Great price. Made of metal.
