Overall I am very satisfied with this set. The set says civil war accessory on the box, the contents of this set are appropriate for just about any period.

"Not sure it's worth it"

Right out of the box I was a little disappointed. There are only 2 small sprues that provide enough stuff to build a very small camp scene. I think that even someone of mediocre skills (like me) could probably scratch build most of the things for free and it would look better. The logs for example are only ok, and the tent and saw are way too thick to be realistic. One could make far better logs by using willow twigs. Far better wattles could be made with thin paper clips and fishing line. The list goes on. The kit includes two rows of broken corn which is kind of a weird addition, and I'm not sure how you would add it realistically to a scene. The one really cool thing is the pig on the roasting spit. The quality of the molding is at least fairly good with some fine details and not too terrible of mold lines. I suppose if you want to build a very small camp scene and you don't want to mess with scratch building, this kit might be right for you. Just keep in mind, 37 parts isn't that much.

There are lots of very small parts not very good for war gaming but I could see somebody that does diaramas using them.

Comments

  • Keep small parts away from children ages 3 and under.
  • It's recommended to use Humbrol paint for an authentic color finish.
