Nieuport 17

I was extremely excited to receive this kit, and I began building it almost immediately. Throughout its construction, poor fits and poor joints were the norm, and I was tempted many times to give up on the kit altogether. Massive mould line plague every small part there is, especially the wing mounted Lewis gun, an optional feature with certain marking choices. Another problem with this kit is the decal for the rudder; it doesn't even fit onto the surface area and I had to haphazardly trim it down. All this considered, this kit was in many ways my beautiful struggle, and I am immensely proud of how it turned out, but given a second chance, I would have spent my money on a more expensive Wingnut Wings kit and saved myself the anguish. This was my first Italeri kit, and it really is a handsome little plane! I just really hope all their kits aren't like this!
