Not for the beginner!
The Moebius 1961 Pontiac Ventura is a highly detailed offering that may present something of a challenge in some areas. The decal sheet is small and dedicated to a straight-from-the-factory Ventura: Scripts, badges, dash and under hood decals. No racing sponsor decals or custom graphics. The interior builds up from the floor pan and everything is well defined. Every pedal, including emergency brake, is attached to the bottom of the dash. The steering wheel is on the clear parts tree because segments of the one-to-one were made of a clear acrylic plastic. The turn signal lever is on the column. Details! The Pontiac 8-lug wheels and whitewall tires supplied in the kit are mini-kits on their own. Made up of both chrome (where shiny is needed) and bare plastic (where the dull finish was on the real thing). They should build into a realistic looking facsimile of Pontiacs' unique 8-lug wheel. The chassis and engine consist of many separate parts, some very small and some very fragile. The tri-carb setup has fuel lines molded on, heater hoses are included. All chassis parts are separate including the frame and pan. There are 2 parts per Dual exhaust/muffler assembly plus the headers. The clear parts include the aforementioned steering wheel, separate vent window glass, windshield is separate from back glass, clear headlights and clear red taillights. Both the windshield and back glass attach to the body from the outside! So, extra care and test fitting will be needed here. Separate wipers, door handles, front bumper/grille/headlights, a body color splash insert, front fender trim, hood latch, back bumper and taillight bezels.
2 tabs on the back of the chassis pan and tabs inside each the front fenders make inserting the chassis a bit challenging, at least that's the case without the interior parts attached.
Aside from potentially tricky assembly issues and some minimal flash cleanup, the attention to detail given this kit is commendable.
