"Terrific kit of iconic SF movie rocketship"
ewiso
This is my favorite Pegasus kit to date (okay, I've only done two so far--but this kit really is very well-made and great fun to build). The film Destination Moon is classic early (1950s) Sci-Fi and I've found, after a recent viewing, it still wears well: Absorbing story, accurate science (for its time) and one of the most beautiful rocketships ever seen on the screen. This kit is a worthy representation of that ship. Simple to assemble, large-sized--the ship alone is over a foot tall. It's made of ABS plastic (except, perhaps, for the clear parts), not polystyrene. The parts fit is first-rate. To top it off, it comes with a wonderfully detailed lunar surface display base. The kit takes paint beautifully (I used Vallejo acrylics over Vallejo Gloss Black primer for the ship and a custom mix of Vallejo acrylics over Vallejo Gray primer for the base). Overall, I have nothing but praise for this kit. One of the most enjoyable builds I've ever done! Pegasus, great job!

"Classic 1950s SciFi Rocketship Luna"

I really enjoy the 1950 scifi craze movies. This rocketship was from George Pal's film Destination Moon. It really captured the public's image of what an interplanetary rocketship would look like. This model, while simple, is perfect for capturing the rocketship so you can display it on your shelves. It is simple to build and the only real work is making sure all the seams are removed. I painted it with Vallejo chrome acrylic and got a very nice metallic shine. It is a great model for buffs of those scifi movies.

"Another terrific kit for a 1950s SF movie fan"

Destination Moon was George Pal's attempt to bring the early dreams of the Space Age to the screen as technically accurate as possible. The film featured the moonship, Luna, which the folks a Pegasus have produced as a great model kit. The only flaw in the kit is the absence of the egress ladder. Also, the base is accurate for what we now know about the Moon's surface, but it does not resemble the set used in the film.
