Star Trek USS Excelsior Aztec Decal Set

A very exstenive decals kitt for the 1:1000 Excelsior kit from amt/polarlights. It has multiple registry numbers and names for this kit so you don't have to build it as Excelsior. There are even different colorschemes you can choose from. Medium Blue or Dark Blue.

Aztec decals bring Star Trek ships to life. This is a must if you want to build an accurate kit. I would recommend this decal set over any others. Some other sets have serious discoloration issues. Not this one.

Excellent set of decals. Use caution with these as they are very thin and only require a short dip before placing on a paper towel. Much better quality than the kit included decals however, you will still need some of the kit decals to complete your model. They will slide into position well but if you need to tease them a bit to get them well positioned, I strongly recommend using a small paintbrush dipped in water. Careful when blotting also as they are quite fragile. Take your time to do it right. I spent about a sum total of 20 hours on the decals of this model since I would not want to work on a section that would require handling the model over a recently applied section. One last tip is to decal the separate assemblies before final assembly of the model. Finish off the placed decal with a brushed on coat of micro sol and they blend in and conform to the surface beautifully. Once dry, all they need is a coat of flat varnish and you have a nicely finished model with a very small amount of painting having been required. For those of you who hate to mask and re-mask and worry about paint pulling up these decals are worth looking into. I will use this brand to do other starship models without hesitation.
