"Bertha's big little sister"
wallyum (Ft. Thomas, KY)
Several years ago I participated in a contest for EMRR that required me to compare different rockets. I chose low and slow rockets, and naturally one of them was going to be a Big Betty. (I think the other three were the Semroc Vega, Estes Big Bertha and Holverson Tangent.) As I recall, the main plus that I found in Betty's favor was price. Betty was a dirt cheap date, and with her three fins as opposed to Bertha's four, it was a lot easier to have the location off slightly and not have it noticed. While the body tube itself seemed sturdy enough, the nose cone needed a fairish amount of masking tape just to keep it from falling out of the rocket. Forgivable, but slightly irritating. Performance was dead on the Bertha, and with the price point way below her sister, Betty is a more than credible stable mate. Well worth having in your fleet, big field or small.
