SG38 Schulleiter German & Solvak Service Aircraft

This 1/72 scale kit comes from a very familiar Czech model company called Special Hobby. On the many kits I’ve built from them over the years, they’ve either been hit or miss. I like to believe that this is one of if not the best kit I’ve built from them by far! The pros for this kit are as follows: You have seven paint schemes to choose from, four German and three Slovak. Some of them have nacelles while others do not. I did two Slovak gliders; one is OK-024 of the Slovak Air Corps which was handed over as a gift from the Germans, it flew either with or without the fuselage nacelle. I gave it the nacelle. The other is OK-055 of the Slovak Air Corps in which it flew without the nacelle. The only other Slovak one OK-034 in which the red crosses were painted over the rudder just after the liberation of the Slovak State. All of the illustrations are in full color and the building assembly instructions are flawless! The decals were easy to take off the paper and place on the kit. Although I accidently had a small rip in one of the tail decals in which I painted over with white paint. I added string for the rigging which is something I haven’t done in ages. That process went very well for me in my opinion. The only con in this kit is as follows: In the colors list they have you requiring the use of white, red, blue, black, fabric, wood, tire black, RLM 83 green, dark metal, aluminum, with one version requiring yellow, and the other brown. However, it turns out in any illustration; you actually won’t need white, red, blue, black, RLM 83 green, and aluminum whatsoever. In conclusion, I give this kit a perfect rating of 5 stars out of 5! Special Hobby if you’re reading this, I offer you my most sincere congratulations on a job well done! This kit will be perfect for someone who wants to advance on the higher tiers of model building with the right balance of simplicity, options, and challenge.
