Tamiya paints are a must in this hobby. Easy to spray or brush. Easy clean up. Coloring is great!

If you like WWII U.S. Navy planes, you have to have this paint. It’s the exact color for the F6F hellcats in the late war, and it has many other applications. For example, if you add just the tiniest amount of white to the paint (like 1 part white to 10-15 parts blue) you’ll get the color for U.S. Navy battleships in the early war (look up the USS Texas, you’ll see what I mean). It would also be a pretty sleek color for a sports car. Its consistency is a bit on the thick side, but thins well with water (though Tamiya also makes an acrylic thinner that is better), and if you thin it to 5-6 parts paint to 1 part water it will give a very nice brushstroke free look in 3-4 coats. Very good paint.

As with all Tamiya acrylics, thin between 1:1 and 2:1 paint to thinner for airbrushing. I personally thin about 65% thinner. 15-18 psi. Brush paint in one direction only and avoid over brushing until first coat is cured (not just dry to the touch)

Comments

Thin using Tamiya Thinner: 23ml (tam81020), 46ml (tam81030), 250ml (tam81040)
