About This Item

Product Details

The ship was launched on Feb 21, 1939 and completed for service on Oct 1,1940 by which time World War 2 had already been fought for a year. After a trip to USA, she covered the Lofoten raid (March 1941) and Atlantic convoys before becoming flagship of the British Home Fleet in April 1941. In May 1941 she led the chase of the German Bismarck and saw action for the first time. Through 1941-42 King George V took part in numerous search and escort operations in the Atlantic and in May 1943 she went to the Mediterranean taking part in all the big naval operations covering the Allied invasion of Sicily and Italy. This is a good model overall some small parts are not easy to place. But the inst are good and color chart is easy to read my only problem was the masts there are small and easy to break great care most be use went place them. The parts come off easy and hull go toghter well. But not a model for the first timer.

Classic Royal Navy Battleship kit; great to build

This is the 3rd of this type of Royal Navy battleship that I've built in the last year (the others being Duke of York & Prince of Wales). As usual, these kits pay great attention to detail and this one was no exception. This kit went together quite well and I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the smaller parts attached. There are a good number of very small parts but nothing that can't be dealt with using a good set of tweezers. The final result was impressive and I am more than satisfied. Highly recommended.

Beautiful outcome

This kit is one of the highest quality Tamiya kits at this price range that I have ever built. I didn't really find any parts of this kit as too challenging for a beginner with some dedication and tweezers so I would definitely recommend it to every kind of modeler. It is just a really fun kit to build with great results.
