"This model is worth the money - by far!"
roblively1982 (Cantonment, Florida)
Tamiya knew what they were doing back then, and this kit really is illustrative of how far ahead of everyone else that Tamiya was in those days. With a parts count of 175, give or take, this model builds into a really good-looking model that is accurate and very detailed. The only real issue is the knockout marks on the interior bulkheads, but they could have been easily fixed. The rubber band tracks are really nice. The gun is great and the accessories are nice, if not plentiful. The figures are not up to modern standards, but they paint out nice. Get this model before they are gone. While this shouldn't be anyone's first model, it might be a good second or third go.

"Interesting Find and Often Overlooked"

To be honest I hadn't paid attention or saw this kit at HL or even my local hobby store. Saw it out of the blue and having made the Panzer Ausf D and the Pak 40 thought it was a good idea and to create a new diorama. Was looking to build a destroyed tank diorama first but something about this piece struck as needed to be done first. Nice small size means that the finished product can be easily displayed.

"Kit Conversion"

I always admired the Germans for taking obsolete tank chassis and bodies to make a better weapon. The Marder II is no exception and I had all of the elements right in front of me to make one out of several spares from three various kits. First: the chassis was from the Tamiya PkzKw II a light tank that the Germans stopped using as the 3.7cm cannon was out-gunned. Second: I had the original Tamiya 7.5cm anti tank gun kit with the crew on hand from an old collection. Third: I had left over side shields from an older Academy Stug IV kit that I used to build up the armor shields. After figuring out the design of the Marder II was straight forward and looking at many photos I put together this highly modified combination of kits only to see that Tamiya released one, but I have my own version now that isn't too far off.

"Looking for a nice anti-tank gun to built this is the one I recommand"

If you're looking for a nice kit of an early mobile anti-tank solution needed to combat the early T-34 and KV tanks, this Marder II kit will build up nicely and provide a nice palette for a variety of camouflage options depending on the season on the eastern front.
