IJN Taiho Aircraft Carrier Waterline

Taiho was an aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Possessing heavy belt armor and featuring an armor-plated flight deck (a first for any Japanese carrier), she represented a major departure in Japanese carrier design and was expected to not only survive multiple bomb, torpedo or shell hits but also continue fighting effectively.

this model goes together very well. There are no real flaws it has a option for the aft elevator to be in the up or down position. The ship comes with zero's,judy, jill's and 1 grace torpedo plane. My problem with this kit was all the tweezer work. The turrets have to mount the guns separately in it's 6 turrets. The range finders and AAA guns are glued to the cat walk's They are tiny for my old fat fingers thus the tweer work for the kids this should not be bad. the kit has metal weights that go in the hull. The weird thing was a extra packet of totally unrelated parts for float planes and extra gun mounts that this ship doesn't use even a catapult All this stuff seems to belong either to a cruiser or battleship I will put these parts in my model junk drawer for a future kit as parts at this scale love to fly off into oblivion as several parts on this kit tried to do. The decals are simple flight deck lines except the bow lines which go on easy. My only grip of these japanese 1/700 kits are there cost which is quite hefty.
