Japanese Yamato Battleship Boat

With many revolutionary features incorporated into her design, the Yamato was completed in December 1941, and met her final fate at the hands of American Navy carrier aircraft in the South China Sea while on a one way mission to Okinawa. This model features minor modifications to Tamiya's previous Yamato replicas Items 78002 and 78014, and has her looking as she did just prior to departing for her final mission, in an exquisite 1/350 scale assembly kit display model. The Yamato's massive imposing silhouette is accurately reproduced, and both the main gun turrets and secondary armament turrets can be rotated even after assembly.

"Yamato Battleship - Very detailed. Loved it"
king.bowser2008
The details are very good. The guns are pretty accurate, but with some slight adjustments. (due to sizing issues, i can understand the ratio standards for the guns) The middle tower was awesome. Cannot wait to start building this.

"One of the best"

About 20 years ago, I bought this kit as a present to myself after graduating from nursing school. I had been away from modelling for a couple of years & wanted to get back into it. I chose this 1 because I had wanted to build a 1/350 for some time. The detailing is minute, right down to the 20mm antiaircraft guns mounted on the deck. It was time-consuming, but this is to be expected given the amount of detail on it. Like most Tamiya models the parts detached from the molds fairly easily. An extensive amount of paint & glue will be necessary! 20 years after it was finished I still have it, and it is still in good condition. It has a compartment in the hull for an RC motor should you decide to go that route. I briefly considered it but when I discovered how much a motor & controller cost I decided against it. This is highly recommended.

"First ship I made, looks so good."

This is a monster! Its at least 28 inches long, and 7-8 Inches tall! It was a hard build, because there were many small guns and such to put on, but it was worth it! The parts were all high quality. I really like the planes that it comes with, they add a lifelike feel to the model. Lastly the stand it comes with is nice, but you do have to paint the label that names the ship. I painted mine Yellow words with a black background, which looks nice. Overall this kit is totally worth its price, and is a cool addition to any modelers shelves!
