This is the second Big Scale Series F1 Tamiya kit that my nephew has generously sent to me. He also sent me the Tamiya Lotus Type 78 kit after I was telling him about watching these cars race at Watkins Glen in the late 70's. The write-up from Tamiya about the Tyrrell Project 34 car says that what people saw with this new machine...shocked and amazed them to the core. The same can be said for the model build itself. Building this 1/12th scale kit was challenging, intricate and fun, all at the same time. These kits incorporate a lot of different components to them such as; tubing, wiring, nuts, bolts, cloth seat belts and metal etched parts. I found that the 4 front tire design was particularly intriguing. This all made for a very interesting build for these older eyes and hands. I actually put this build on hold for several months because my eyes were not cooperating with me. Happily, I was able and ready to resume. The body was painted using Tamiya TS-15. Between the rich blue paint color and the decal package, you get a nice looking finished model.
