"Awesome kit"

This kit is very nice. The boat is a simple build that wont take too long. The decals can be tricky to get on straight as they can tear easily and it is difficult to move them once they are on the model. The part that is most time consuming for this model are the planes. The kit comes with around 20 planes. If you want to completely cover the deck with planes then get 4 or 5 of trumpeters aircraft carrier plane kits that come with 6 planes in each. The decals are small and require a lot of patience to get on correctly. Overall this kit can be a little frustrating with the planes but it will come out looking great with some time and patience.

After hours spent researching 1/350 this is the one I have decided on

The USS Nimitz is and always has been one of my favorite modern day aircraft carriers, and yes I have the movie, so this kit was an absolute must when she came out. She is a huge kit and as mentioned in other reviews a simple build. For me though the 1975 version wasn’t enough, so I decided to upgrade her to today’s standards, I have been working on her on and off for the last 4 years, still not done! Also as mentioned in another review if you want to cover the deck then yes you need to get some additional kits from trumpeter, they also have additional flight deck equipment you can get from them. And yes the air group is very time consuming, I strayed from tradition and put together an air group that from a personal point of view that would be even in today’s standards the most effective. I have included pics of my air wing. I do recommend this kit for both beginners as well as advanced builders, the kit is simple enough but also offers a challenge to those who wish to go further.

Just the size of the ship made it special to build, enjoyed every minute. Had no major problems except for the decals on the flight deck. One line turned into many so decided to paint them on instead of messing with the decals, looks good to me. One suggestion, alternate between shipbuilding and aircraft assembly. After assembling the carrier and 56 aircraft I think we're ready for deployment. Like all my other ships the next job is to build a case for it, done!
