The DPM series of modular walls and details system is a good option when needing large modular buildings. The instructions are decent but should be printed on larger paper.
Wanted to cover the DS64 decoders' emergency turnout control switches but with the button tops above roof resembling HVAC vents. Decided to use the one story as height needed to be minimized, its near the locomotive and car loading spur. One of the 3 walls was cut in half to make a basic rectangular building. A window will eventually become a door. Purchased some ribbed styrene for the roof.
The biggest issue with this particular DPM series is that an individual package contains 3 wall sections, windows and film BUT ONLY enough parts for completing 2 corners. This requires buying 2 kits in order to have sufficient pieces to make 4 corners. A single kit contains 4 half corners and 6 straight pieces to fill center of the full width wall if not cut in half. Don't quite understand providing parts for only 2 corners and the need for 6 straight sections when the maximum possible would be 3? Would likely not have purchased if had known needed to buy 2. Many other DPM series seem to use a better approach for corners.
Unsure if this was specific to the kit received or how this particular DPM series is packaged. Woodland Scenics, as always, resolved the problem satisfactorily though if by design, either sufficient corners should be included or notation on the packaging that 2 kits are required to make any rectangle.
