"Hunting a beast in the Norway coasts."
hhpodesta
Tirpitz was the second of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. In February 1941, she was commissioned into the German fleet. Carrying out only minor operations off the coast of Norway, especially when it did not have an adequate support fleet, but still, its mere presence was a threat to convoys heading to the Soviet Union. This is an great book for 96 pages. It describes every air attack by both the RAF and the Royal Navy. The text describes the details of each attack and the results (usually not much until the final attacks in October and November of 1944). The text also describes the damage to the “Tirpitz” from the bomb hits. There are several very useful maps showing the locations and details of the anchorages of the “Tirpitz” through the years. The narrative is backed by an excellent selection of period photographs, battle diagrams and some outstanding modern illustrations by Jim Laurier. Well recommended to students of the air aspects of the Second World War.
