"Good runner with some problems"

The engine looks good on the track but this is where it's usefulness stops. The Train runs fast but when it goes more then a crawl it starts to squeal very loudly. This is not a lubrication issue for I have tried this many times. Sometimes if you slowly increase the speed it will not squeal. Sadly this takes a long time and is not worth it. Like I stated before it looks nice in a yard but don't try to run it.

"solid little tank"

My dad bought one of these little guys when I was about two -- I'm 21 now, I've still got it, AND IT'S STILL GOING!! I love these engines, I hope they keep making them, one of my best engines, actually. It's got good grip on steep (4%) grades with multiple cars, it runs pretty well for an older engine from a beginner's set, but keep in mind, it is a beginner's model...it runs a little louder than the brand-new offerings from makers such as Kato, and the detailing isn't anything to write home about. Overall, I've been quite pleased with this model for years...I'd buy another if I could get one.
