This kit comes with 1961 stamped on the tail. It comes from the old ITC that came with an electric motor and there is a battery service window on top of the fuselage. Some “plastic surgery” will be needed to cover this up. Scratch building of interior will be needed (if one wishes), to improve the landing gear (which is out of scale) and engines deserve some attention also. Aerial and rope tie are out of scale but easily replaced. Some sanding and putty will be needed on the hull and wing fitting. There is an issue in fitting front windows and top of cockpit, also, file and fit. Overall the rivets add nice detail, and kit is perfect for the modeler who is transitioning to a higher level and is up for few challenges. For the novice modeler, it could show some frustrating results.

This Lindberg kit is a re-issue of an Ideal Toy Company kit from the late 50's. Molded this time in a soapy white styrene, it is somewhat toylike, but can be made into a very good representation of a Goose. The kit, while simple, brings you back to the days of clothespins, toothpicks.. Get a tube of Testors glue and model like it's 1959! It's a fine kit for a beginner, and gives you the raw basics for a detailed display model.

This kit is definitely from the 50s or early 60s. There is no interior detail at all.The engines are basic,and the landing gear is not very detailed. It does however have nice surface detail. I starts wit the interior, and using photos of the interior of a Navy Goose, I scratch built a cabin interior using plastic card stock for the bulkheads. Seats were scrounged from the scrap box and reworked to resemable the cabin seats. These were covered with tissue paper soaked in white glue and shaped to resembale leather seats, and were painted with Testor's leather paint. Next the flight deck was talckeled. I used cars tock again to build the cockpit walls and aft bulkhead. The kit provided cockpit floor and seats were used. I reworked the seats to make them a little more realistic. The overhead console was made from a spare instrument panel from the scrap box. Instruments and throttles were made using left over photo-etch parts. The landing gear was made more scale in appearance using stretched sprue and tape. The kit provided wheels were replaced with a set of TBF Avenger wheels. Details were added to the engines, with fine wire, (ignition harnesses) The aerial and mooring mast were sanded to more scale size and shape. The props are a pair of reworked T-28 propellors. This would be an easy kit for junior modelers, And more experienced modelers can do like I did and end up with a nice looking Goose. Paints were Testors MM enamels with an aftermarket decal sheet. I have another one that I plan on doing in the CUTTER'S goose scheme from the TV show. I thourghly enjoyed building this kit even though it was tedious to get a nice looking model. I would recommend this kit . It would be easy for young modelers to buil OOB and more experienced modelers can practice their scratch building skills on it.
