UH34D Seahorse Helicopter

This kit turned out to be a pretty darn nice kit. Fit of the parts was nearly perfect, zero flash, good enough details for all the areas no one will see except you while you're building it. It includes a surprisingly large amount of PE, and good PE at that. I've got one recommendation about the PE installation though. Looking at the box art and online photos of the real aircraft you can pretty easily see through the black mesh grills that are all over the helicopter (top/side of nose, under nose, top/sides of tail, under main rotor, etc...). By design the model has you installing the PE mesh grills over plastic fuselage. This makes it so you can not see through the grills. It's clear they can not have a cooling/venting purpose on the model because of this lack of transparency . If I build this model again I'll take the extra time and effort to cut out the areas of plastic that lay underneath the PE grills. I'd leave just a small bit of plastic around the rim for the PE to be glued down to. This would give you the see through grills that would take this model to the next level for realism. Especially with the relatively intricate engine that you would then be able to at least catch a glimpse of. The only other thing I'd change is the tires. In photos of the real aircraft you can see the tires are pretty underinflated in normal operation. They balloon out and flatten quite a bit when it's on the ground. I meant to modify the tires to imitate this but totally forgot, oh well. That small modification, along with the above PE installation mod, would make this an A#1 kit for sure.
