1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop

I'm really disappointed in this kit. Lots of flash and mold line removal was required, which was surprising considering this is supposed to be modern tooling. However, the worst part is the detail, which is sub par at best. Exhaust and suspension components are molded into chassis, the metal axle passes through the oil pan on the engine, and some body panels required some sculpting with modeling clay to get a clean fit. The interior isn't much better...the steering column and steering wheel are one piece with no detail. Custom engine is completely incorrect for a Mustang, and if you want to use the side-exit race headers, it's gonna look weird since the stock exhaust isn't optional. I realize this is a reissue but other AMT reissue kits I own are much better...I wish I would have paid close attention to the parts diagram on the bottom of the box (if you look carefully you can see the exhaust and suspension are molded into the chassis). I bought this with the intention of making a period-correct road race Mustang, but after seeing the extreme lack of detail and the inaccurate engine representation, I'm not even sure I'm going to build it...you can't even kit bash an engine easily because the axle runs through the engine and the transmission is very short so it buts up to the molded-in driveshaft. This is probably the most disappointing kit I own...it's closer to a toy than it is to a model.

I was not impressed by this model at all. I am a longtime user of revell products and was given this AMT model. I have never seen a kit with so much 'flashing' (excess plastic) and poor fitting parts. I intend to finish this model and then not get another AMT product again.
