"Nice kit"
jeremy.s.michels1
I give this 5 stars because the idea of it is kind of funny to me. I had some fit issues with the top and the bottom halves of the plane. This are pretty small planes and there aren't too many pieces. But the instructions were very clear, and there was very little flash on the parts. I would recommend this kit to any modeler. Some of the details aren't as accurate, but it is a fun little build to take your mind of the serious ones.

"Almost passed it up, but. . ."

I was never a big fan of egg planes which are so popular in Japan. While in Tokyo last year, however (I am a Marine stationed in Okinawa so it isn't that far), I saw this kit and had to get it when I noticed the decals. One of the two squadrons depicted was VMM-356 (the Dragons) with whom I had served while on the 31st MEU. I bought it as one of my low hanging fruit models which means I wouldn't have to give it the time and energy as a battleship with 5 frets of PE parts (for example). The model went together pretty well and there were no huge seams to fill. Engraved panel lines make washes apply easily. I did end up spending more time on the paint job than I thought I would as there is a three tone gray paint scheme on USMC MV-22s. I started to mask off the canopy, but ended up going with the canopy decals provided for most of the reinforcing bars. That explains the differing colors on the canopy. And yes, the eyes and mount on the face on the pilot are decals! I'm certainly not that skilled at painting anime faces! Hope this helps. I would certainly suggest this for a fun model. See my pictures attached for my build and for the real thing (they even got the tail number right!)
