Soviet Bt-2 Tank Early

I was quite pleased to see that HobbyBoss had decided to produce a kit of the often over-looked Soviet BT-2 light tank, and the early production model with its odd-ball gun mantle, to boot. The tread system is of the individual link type, with no option for the long rubber strip variety. In the past, I had to make do with a lesser-accurate turret/weapon system from an old Mirage Studios T-26/BT-2 kit, and the chassis from a Zvezda BT-5 Soviet Light Tank kit #272, both obtained approx. 25 years ago. The results were reasonable, but it does not compare to the accuracy and detail level of the newer HobbyBoss kit. The turret does not have a great deal of detail features, but that is how the vehicle was produced, and it even has a correct, functional turret top hatch, as opposed to the older kit's pair of molded closed small hatches. The correct style of gun mantle system was the first thing that caught my eye to the kit, as the available materials to fabricate such in the older kit left a lot to be desired. I am looking forward to picking up the other 2 optional armament kit versions of the BT-2 from HobbyBoss. As I dabble in a little resin casting, I am also looking forward to upgrading my T-26 M1931 models with some more accurate/detailed turrets, as the T-26 and BT series shared the same turrets, up to about the M1937 conical-style ones, where the diverged slightly. Overall, the kit is of good quality and nicely accurate/detailed, and I would highly recommend it to others.
