Type-30 ART ROC Skill 2

The low price for this kit is matched by the low quality of the components. The body tube material is rather thin for a rocket of this size. Instead of pre-cut balsa fins all that was provided were two sheets of very flimsy 3/32 balsa and a template for cutting out the fins. I substituted sturdier 1/8 balsa for them. The motor mount tube provided was also very weak so I fabricated another tube from BT50 body tubing. I didn't trust the thin piece of 3/16 tubing which was provided for the launch lug so I substituted a pair of 1/4 Estes launch lugs for that. The parachute material was so weak that a shroud line broke through both the material and the reinforcement ring as i was tying it on. Had to replace the parachute too. The only decent components in this kit were the nose cone and the centering rings for the motor tube. I will say that once the rocket was finished it flew very well with an E20-7W Aerotech motor.
