Another H-34 from Gallery Models / MRC
I have completed building this model after purchasing a series of H-34s from Gallery Models/MRC. I wanted to build the cabin with stretchers as not many helicopter in this scale can be built in an air ambulance version.
I am not sure if this kit was the first one released in the series, but it seems that small tweaks were made by the vendor in the instructions, particularly as it relates to putting together the well-detailed engine. I must admit I struggled with this the engine, however, when I build the Marine One model, the instructions were slightly different and the engine came up together more easily. My biggest grip with the kit is that the instructions imply you can put together 3 groups of stretchers (2 aft, and 1 starboard), however only 2 are provided. If you follow the instructions to drill the holes in the cabin floor, you will end up with too many holes, and it is impossible to fit the stretchers on the forward port section.... As a result of this issue, I gave up on the instructions, and built the model with stretchers and seat combinations. I also recommend the fuselage PEs (grids on air intakes on the front) be glued in place before assembly and painting. The assembly is pretty straight forward, but you need to proceed carefully. When put together, the model looks quite nice.
Excellent Model of an UH-34D outstanding Quality and Craftsmanship.
This is the Model I'm building now. this is the UH-34D that I was privilidged to fly in the Navy back in the late 60's. I have 6 of these Gallery Model's made by MRC. Excellent models, Quality is Exceptional and these are Pleasurable to Build. I'm really Enjoying building one now. Here are a few pictures of the build. I'm in the beginning stages of this model. Very much Enjoying building it too.
