Wow! Now that is a replica. What did you guys do, build a shrink ray, lol. I mean the details are uncanny for N scale. Those guys at Oxford sure know what they are doing.
I deducted one star for the inaccurate description: this is a later model than 1953, with the large back window, but the proportions and detail are very good. Excellent value for the money -- decent N scale vehicles are hard to find at this price point.
"Another great Oxford vehicle, but - this is not a 1953 VW"

This is part of my first order of four Oxford diecast cars. These are truly amazing jewel-like cars! Stock photos do not do these justice. Super crisp details and painting. And most importantly for me, since these will be part of a city scene on an N-scale layout, the proportions and sizing look very accurate.
For those who want to customize these, the chassis pan is attached to the body with a small screw. You will have to mask the windows, though, as they are integrated with the body.
My only caution is if you are expecting a 1953 VW replica. It has the larger rear window and represents a 1960s model.
