I was real big into the 1/72 scale scene many years ago. Since then I have gotten a little older and the dexterity just is not there like it used to be. When I got back into modeling last year (after a 6 year absence) I have discovered an explosion of kits that were not available six years ago. One type of kit are the fast-Builds. The first I have purchased was this kit of the Panzer III from Italeri. I must say, the are very impressive for the ease of construction and the price. The Panzer III was a mainstay of the German forces of WWII, and always my favorite tank. The kit comes with two complete models. Detail is about the same as the old ESCI kits, but some parts are a little better. You can make two different variants of the vehicle. I have never been a stickler on accuracy, but there are some errors with this kit. First, it is more of an L variant than a J, the spaced armor on the front sticks out way too much, so next time I build one, I will fix this. There is minimal amount of parts for each tank, Assembly is fast and easy, I built both within two hours,and that is with modifying the headlight position for each vehicle, filling the extra holes. The kits have two places to mount the lights, short barreled models should have them on the bow, long barreled models on the fenders. I painted both models with Tamiya acrylics. I had to steal decals from other kits, because there are none with this kit. Other Italeri kits in this family seem to have decals. Overall this is enjoyable and fun kit, simple and easy for beginners, and a good platform for detailing for the more detail minded. Happy Modeling!
