Ends up nicely but takes a LOT of work--not for beginners.
This kit has some really nice detail but it is also a tough build. The fuselage and pontoons are actually built by stacking flat sections together to build up the part. The pontoons were not that bad, but the fuselage was terrible. Once it was put together, you have to sand the rear 1/2 down to a taper (basically shaping) to form the contour of the fuselage. When doing this you have to be careful of the details that are on the plane such as the doors. Once this is done, you will need to use a filler putty to smooth it out. This adds another way to lose details due to putty creep. It would have been nice to know all of this before purchase. Aside from the difficulty of the build, the absolute worst part of this kit however are the decals. They are a thick vinyl so they are very thick. The side windows, company name and model name all lay flat and stuck well, but the front windscreen decals are horrible. They are so thick they do not follow contours and corners. I was FINALLY able to make the port side windscreen stay with a spot of CA glue.
