This is the HO Scale Great Northern 30' Plywood Sided Caboose Kit from American Model Builders.
Our latest HO scale caboose kits are based on the family of 30' waycars, roadnumbers X-198 to X-309, employed by the Great Northern beginning in early 1940s and later by the Burlington Northern. Built at the GN's St. Cloud, MN Shops, all the cars were built with the same floor plan, same window arrangement, and same external dimensions (22' 6" between truck centers and a 38' 6" length over coupler pulling faces). They generally differed only in exterior finish: tongue and groove, plywood, or steel. Our kits No. 880 and 881 represent the two wood constructed car designs.
Kits feature 100% laser-cut components with custom laser-scribed side and end walls, Tab & Slot sub-walls and Peel & Stick construction, laser-cut underframe, end platforms, end railing, and brake wheels; cast resin platform steps and brake gear; white metal smokejack and toilet vent; fully illustrated instructions that provide information on painting and decaling the assembled model; and several fixtures to aid the modeler in creating all the handholds and ladders appropriate for the prototype.
