A straight-forward kit with some fit issues

Starting with the box: the pieces come in good condition, but the gold-tinted canopy pieces are a bit annoying. Assembly for the most part was straight forward, but there are issues with getting the two halves of the Fuselage to fit properly. You might want to apply extra cement and even tape the edges down towards the back and the wings. Putting in putty for a weight helped a little. The cockpit assembly went together nicely, but the color options and decals were mild. The tail fin assembly was troubling, as you may have to put something on either side of the fins to keep them up-right, and they won't stay in that position unless some super glue is used. The cockpit pieces fitted nicely, but the bombay doors on the bottom wouldn't work for me, so I had to assemble the bombay in the closed position. I also recommend that you paint the interior white of the landing gear before assembling the two halves of the fuselage because after it will be impossible to reach some corners. The overall assembly of the landing gear and doors was fine, but the doors need to be attached with care. The instructions can sometimes be unclear as to the angle of things, so be mindful of that also. The decals were mediocre, and even after applying a decal solution and a gloss coat, maintained some bad silvering. It stands up fine when on the shelf, and didn't take very long and lacked a lot of difficulty and detail, but with some elbow grease and patience this kit can be a nice addition to any shelf, and it is one of the few 1/72 scale F-117's out there, so it is ok.
