Class of '69!

This California Hauler kit from 1969 is a Legend in it's own time. This kit features the older style cab (and grill) that they call a small-window cab, and has square door corners unlike the newer Peterbilt California Hauler kits with the rounded doors and new style cab. Also, this kit comes with a big Super Charged V8 Detroit Diesel, unlike the later ones witch came with a in-line 6. Another difference to point out between this kit and the newer Petes is that this one comes with the rear leaf spring molded to the frame and would be hard to relocate them for customizing, (I like the newer style that has them as separate pieces where they could be used as helper axles or third axles). Like all the other reviews, yes it's an old kit so expect allot of flash; and allot of time is spent 'carving out the pieces' before they can be painted, especially smaller parts like the shocks, but even the cab needs to be cleaned up around all the parting lines where the molds come together. But with patience, these kits make GREAT-LOOKING models and are very accurate to the real-life prototypes! The construction of the parts in this kit lends itself great for modifications and customization.
