Abteilung 502 oils are used amongst some figure painters, and can also be used to brush paint entire plastic models, giving a good finish that can be compared to that of airbrushing. The tube is actually a bit small for the price compared to other oil. From my experience Abteilung 502 oils are opaque and have a very fine pigment. They should be thinned using Abteilung 502's thinner, my recommendation being the fast dry thinner because oils can take a very long time to dry. This color is somewhere between FS 36473 and FS 36495. I would use an oil paint only after a primer and clear coat because oils and oil thinners can sometimes be caustic for styrene.
