Overall Excellent Kit with no significant build issues
By: theodossy
The '10 Shelby GT500 kit is excellent overall with no significant build issues. Newer tooling is apparent throughout, particularly in the interior parts. Overall fit is excellent with no issues encountered during the build.
Engine and chassis: The engine detail is good to excellent. I built it out of the box stock. Parts fit is excellent. Parts count is provides nice detail and opportunities for enhancing detail with appropriate paint scheme. Short metal tubes provided for the exhaust tips which enhances the final appearance. remaining chassis and exhaust parts are basic and straight-forward. Under carriage detail is minimal, but true to the 1:1.
Interior: The interior detail etching is excellent on the door panels, seats, and dash. Parts all fit without issues. The detailed etching allows for enhancement using combination of paint and foil. The non-tub layout also allows for easy flocking of the floor boards to simulate carpeting if desired. Two sets of decal strips are provided for the seats to match the color scheme of your choice. Decals for dash gauges also provided.
Body: Proportions look good when assembled. Some have mentioned the ride height to be a bit high, but it looks good to my eye. Minimal flash and sink marks made pre-paint body prep relatively simple and straight forward. I found no problematically placed sink holes, seam lines, or other casting artifacts. The hood and front grill pieces are separate from the hood and front fascia allowing easy detail painting. Body fit perfectly on the chassis at final assembly. Fit is secure even without glue, although I elected to glue anyway.
Clear parts: These were all clean and scratch free, packaged in a separate bag in the box. These all came off the tree easily with minimal clean-up needed. I did do a dip in Future prior to removing from the tree as I have found this helps with clean removal of clear parts from the tree and also enhances the appearance. Each of the rear lights are cast a a single piece with minimal relief. This made detailing these lights challenging and this is my only criticism of the kit. Front and back windshields and the side windows are all front-loading and fit perfectly. There is a frosted border around all that allows for relatively easy blackening with paint or Sharpie marker if desired.
Decals: Two sets of decals (interior and exterior striping) to allow for different paint schemes as desired by the builder. The decals applied and held well. The exterior stripping is a bit challenging to get correctly lined-up as the stripping traverses multiple parts. Also, I would recommend applying the decals prior to placing the windows and grills (both hood and front fascia) as this will eliminate the need for difficult decal trimming if your decal alignment is not perfect.
Chrome parts: Relatively standard. Nothing noteworthy positive or negative.
Summary: Overall this was a very enjoyable kit to build. No significant issues were encountered. the only criticism is of the rear light pieces which were very difficult to detail (but this is minor). The kit detail is excellent allowing for a satisfying build out-of the-box with plenty of opportunities to enhance the detail as desired with paint, foil, and other detailing. A nice subject well rendered, and an enjoyable build experience.
99% awesome kit

Overall I am very pleased with the detail and relatively flash free parts. I am not sure if it is my skill level or a nuance of this kit, but the front fascia seemed a bit overly challenging to me. As a caveat, I was experimenting with CA for this build as well so that may have played into things. It just seemed there was not a lot of surface area to glue on the front fascia. My parts were painted because I stripped the chrome and painted the headlights copper. As a result, my left and right seams will be needing some repair. The detail on the engine is very pleasing, the detail on the chassis seems a bit above average, and the door skins were splendid to look at however difficult to install. If you follow the instructions you will be gluing the back seat in prior to installing the door skins. I did this too, and when it came time for the skins, they would not fit between the back seat and the tub. I am not sure what I will do about this, but when I get home I will have to figure something out. This kit could arguably be rated a 5 however that front fascia...that got to me. If I were to do another one I would glue the body, front and rear fascia, and rear view mirrors together with stripped headlights installed. Then paint all together as a unit, go back and mask off the headlights with BMF and paint them copper.
My widebody 2010 Shelby GT 500

After seeing the movie Need for Speed, I just had to build a wide body Shelby GT 500. So I selected Revell's 2010 Shelby GT 500. I was pleasantly surprised with the kit. The decal sheet offered lots if decals for adding details under the hood. The body had virtually no flash. Assembly was very straight forward with no hiccups. The kit pieces all fit no problem. The body was straight. I did some extensive modifications to the body and the chassis. It is a great canvas for customizing. I added a body kit as well as lowered it and added after market wheels and tires. I highly recommend this kit and I give it a 5 out of 5 rating. Just an excellent kit.

I built this one just like the one my mother had. Pretty easy to build but some parts had the extra plastic that needed to be cut off and sanded. When done it's a very nice looking car just like mom's.
Finished product looks gerat
kit is molded with very little to no flash or molding lines. Went together with very little twisting. Engine, interior and suspension detail adds to the look when done. I will be building another one soon.

Nice build. I did the body in Flame Red and it looks real nice. Learned a lot on this one. Plan to do another one. Decals were challenging, some very small. Would say that this was worth the effort.
Very nice kit
